Yea get a piece of white poster board and have some fun!
Practice using more air than paint.....then more paint than
air. Spray thin lines, thick lines, circles, .......when you get batter try
writing sentences with it! ;D Poster board is cheap and very
forgiving much more than a model! LOL

I bought a pad of newsprint to practice on. It is also cheap. Heck old newspaper works too!

Okay, enough speaking of the airbrush and it's virtues
Fresh update time.

Pilot figures started with a base coat of interior green, followed by a black wash.

Then they were drybrushed in gold. Visors were painted in metallic light blue. Other details were picked out in black.
The patches were painted on, given that they're only about 3/32" across


The engines got a black wash

Followed by a light drybrushing in silver


Painted the cockpit interiors in a light grey, then painted the seats with interior green.
This was followed by a black wash


A few of the screens and details were picked out with a metallic dark blue.
I didn't use the supplied decals, as I figured the detail would be obscured through the canopy anyway.



I( went in and drew in the panel lines with mechanical pencil.
The RCS thrusters were painted in with black

Good update on the project. Don't fret about the airbrush. I go back and forth between airbrush and can. If its a simple job and a common color the result is almost the same with less work. I only break out the airbrush for specific paint jobs. Not because I dont like it, but because I hate cleaning the darn thing!!!!

Q, your results without an airbrush are great, so I can see why you're not fussed.

Yep, Testors' Graphite Dust. Guns are a custom acrylic mix of a similar color

Looking nice there, and you are right, the details will probably fade out once the cockpit is put on.

Busy day in the workshop today.
Got a LOT of decalling done.
At this point, all of the markings are now on both ships.

Both fuselages


And we also have final major assembly with insertion of the engines and placement of the cowlings.
I haven't glued on the canopies yet. I'll do that after the weathering.
