Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Hold up...

What is this testors graphite dust you speak of?

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

@punkpigpen,
Right now, I'm waiting for Moebius to release the Raider.
Then, I'll need a total of three, and one more mk7

@whiskee,
Testors has a line of laquer based spray paints.
Graphite Dust is one of them, and a lovely dark metallic shade

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Thanks again, guys.

@noc5659,
the clearcoat is just Krylon Crystal Clear-Satin from rattlecan

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

will that Krylons clear coat hold up to an oil or enamel wash? I was thinking of trying some of Migs or AKs finishing washes etc, but I was under the impression that the clear coat had to be acrylic?

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Should work all right, noc5659.
Says on the can that it's an acrylic paint

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

thanks Q. Im gonna try some. Me and the future dont mix to well so i have been looking for an alternative. Great tips you give.

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Fair warning, this update is VERY image heavy.

All right, worked up some basic weathering with some drybrushing of Vallejo Smoke, and them some light damage with drybrushed black.
Canopies were then glued into place.

For the base, I just painted a wooden plaque black and then applied the Ship and Squadron patches along the front center.
Then I added enlarged copies of the two pilot nameplates to either side.
The ships are supported on brass tubes via holes drilled into the base and the ships.
I deliberately staggered them to gove a "leader/wingman" feel to the display

good job! make some raiders! i know you said the new raiders arent out yet b ut there's that one episode in the new series where they find that centurian ship from the old series with dead cylons pilots

This is beautiful! I love the base. It's so well presented and very imaginative. Did I mention the colours are awesome?!!!!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next, Q. :)
