Secret Santa 2013

Whoa don't ask me mate! I'm a Star Wars geek not a Treky lol Quaralane may be your best bet ;)

Ian man....tis a nice kit, got one of the original ones in the stash.

You gotta light it up. Something that big just deserves to be lit!

@John - Sorry, my bad!

@Elm - The lighting interests me, so where do I start learning about that?

Looks like it should be a challenge, Ian.
I did one....way back when it was issued the first time. Never really finished it.

And my shipment went out today

Woah, rad kit. There's lots of lighting kits available, but it'd be infinitely cheaper to buy some LEDs and some resistors. Shop at Sparkfun, Adafruit, or the like.

Tenacontrols also does some interesting controller boards for all the fun flashing and blinking.

Yeah you need to light that thing. I did get most of mine built before it became a shelf queen. Here is the build thread:

I did a good discussion of lighting it up in that thread. A bit of the light blocking is outdated however and I would not use Fiber for the rear strobes now.

Here is my lighting Tutorial:

My lighting tutorial is based off of my NX build.

The worst part of this kit is the Nacelles, they have some really bad seams. But the rest of it is good.

You'll rock that Ian ;) and my posty delivered a big box for me today! Ganna wait till the big day to open it ;D

If you want to get custom PCBs you could use Fritzing to make the circuits. It's a super easy app to use and they'll send you a nice pcb afterwards for super cheap. You'll need to buy and solder components after, but sure does cut down on wiring.

Well done boys and girls for getting your gifts to me quickly! And I'm very sorry about the people that had to pay a bit extra to get the gifts sent out, it was unfortunately the luck of the draw :( but thanks again for understanding! Have a wonderful Christmas!!!
