Started work on the Moebius Galactica kit since I haven't been able to get out to spray the Viper due to high winds and cold.
This one, I'm going to do up as the BSG-75 Galactica with mods for lighting and using the Paragrafix photoetch set.
The lights are from a Target battery powered 18 LED Christmas set.
The only area that's gotten light block work thus far is the "alligator head" as I figure I can kill the rest with my normal black coat before primer.

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP

Nice photos and video.

Hope more photos and other video will come up! :D

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP

Thanks.
And I intend to do both.
Just hoping I can get the weather to cooperate before too long.
Unlike some of you, I really can't spray paint indoors

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP

Nice work!! Mine came in last week, along with the photo etch, so I am watching this one.

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP

@Anedg603,
Can't catch the vid from here at work, but glue would likely work best.

@Grendels,
It's an excellent kit.
Just figured that, with the photoetch in the flight pods, I had to light it in order to be able to see the work.

Fun's REALLY going to start when I do the work to make my second kit into my version of the Solaria

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP

Got my initial order coming into the shop, but got to wait another week before I get them....the wait is agonizing.

Pre-ordered 10, and so far 7 are sold....going fast!!

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP-updated 11/25

Work begins on the flight pods.
Starting with the photetch grills to cover the "museum" bay
moe-bsg-75-10.jpg

Girders in the starboard flight pod
moe-bsg-75-11.jpg

Flight decks assembled and given basecoat of primer grey
moe-bsg-75-12.jpg

Flight deck decals in place.
Should note that, likely because of me rushing things a little here, I had problems with both of them.
Fortunately, they don't look too bad.
moe-bsg-75-13.jpg

I opened up the mounting points to allow for more light into the pods, then assembled the arms.
After they were assembled, I put them into place on the upper part of the pods
moe-bsg-75-14.jpg

Black light blocking coat on the two flight pods.
moe-bsg-75-15.jpg

Now, I've cemented the girders to the flight decks with CA glue and attached the nameplates prior to closing the pods and primering them.
moe-bsg-75-16.jpg

Opted to use the kit guns on this one instead of the etch versions.
This isn't a reflection on Paul's excellent Paragrafix set. It's more a reflection on me not wanting to fight with folding the etch.

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP-updated 11/25

Nice update! ;D

But I have a question: How hard was it to fold up the photoetch for the landing bays?

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP-updated 11/25

Thanks, guys. :D

@Grendels,
Actually, cutting it free of the fret was more trouble than folding it.
It was pre-scored along the fold lines, so I only needed some tweezers.

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP-updated 11/25

Paragraphix must be selling these sets like hot cakes....my supplier has had a hard time getting them, and I get my order on Monday that has the Galacticas in it!!!!

An interesting sort of variant of the Galactica would be a pristine ship, like she was just built, which is something I expect to see in the new pilot Blood & Chrome when it comes out.

Re: BSG-75 Galactica-WIP-updated 11/25

Might get that chance.
And I know that Paul's had trouble keeping up on orders for the etch sets.

And now,
More work on the Galactica build.

Decided to add a better reflective coat to the inside of the flight pods before buttoning them up.

Markings finished.

Now, all she needs is some battle damage.

Paint got rid of the "raytheon" leaks just fine, Exarkun77.
Sadly, the light leaks I still have are due to me not making sure of tight seamwork befoe going for paint.

These lessons will be passed on to the Solaria build.
