I'm not good at weathering. I kind of throw stuff on and hope for the best. (Literally)
I do watch a lot of YouTube videos, that's where I have learned a lot, and I try to replicate the best I can.
Basically have fun with it and you will do just fine. Then you'll develop your own style.

It's pouring with rain here so unfortunately I can't do the weeding this afternoon. So now I will just have to build some more Spitfire. The wife is not happy but what can I do !!!!!

Almost finished the build, just a few bits to add and the canopy to sort. Cleaned it down and primed. Next will be aluminium base coat, hairspray and pre shading.

The aluminum metal coat is excellent, very easy to spray when thinned. Not so easy to do larger area's with a brush as tend to overpaint the edge. Would definitely recommend it. Pantherman

I use the aluminum vallejo air so no thinning is needed for the airbrush. I am not good at thinning at all.
Like Pantherman said "Not so easy to do larger area's with a brush as tend to overpaint the edge." Touch-ups and small areas are fine.
My gold and silver are thick and I plan to replace all of my bottles with Vallejo Air.
The coverage is really nice and stays even in the airbrush. I too, recommend them.
