Greetings SMA!

I am a newbie in scale modeling and I am looking for some paints. I saw a Set of Academy Paint Tool AERO AIRCRAFT. It has 12 colors I have mix of Rivell, Tamiya, and Academy for projects so question, these colors are sufficient for future projects?

12 COLORS

  • MA-23 Aero White
    MA-24 Gull Gray
    MA-25 Euro Gray
    MA-26 European Green
    MA-27 Medium Green
    MA-28 Gunship Gray
    MA-29 Neutral Grey
    MA-30 Dark Ghost Gray
    MA-31 Light Ghost Gray
    MA-32 Dark Green
    MA-33 Vietnam Brown
    MA-34 Vietnam Gray

Any input is gladly appreciated.

Depends on what kind of air craft you intend to build. But from my experience with planes...The short answer would be; not even close. As an example I have a F-16 in my stash that requires around 16 different colors. But hey, you gotta start somewhere. ;D

I think the answer to your question is "it depends."

It depends on which plane you're trying to build, and how accurate you need the finish to be. If you're going after an IPMS award, then you'll probably need to buy some additional colors. But if you're building just for you, just for fun, then what you've got on hand can probably be made to work.

Different era planes require different colors as well. WW1 and WW2 shades were a bit different from later years. And standard olive drab varied by manufacturer and exposure to the sun.

But you've made a good start.
