Apparently, one of my cardboard sheets I use to control overspray, decided to fall over last night.
It landed on the primed parts, causing significant damage.
Both mirrors mangled, drive shaft snapped off, gonna take a little time and effort to fix...Sigh.

Yeah advice on the mud appreciated guys. Honestly it is the first time I have felt like I like the end result. I always feel people add to much sometimes when they do it. Will keep trying and perfecting it.

Kind words on the model overall. Thanks! Now to decide what model to do next lol.

Thanks everyone. I have to admit I looked at the truck and it was nice and shiny like a factory airplane and I says that looks pretty good, why get it dirty? Then the little kid in you takes over..

I decided to have some fun because I saw a World War II picture of one of these that was a survivor. That gray piece of metal there was taken off a blown up vehicle and they made it into a radiator Shield. And I took off the headlights and I'll put on these stealth headlights

Wow. I got to change my meds or something. I kept breaking off the cargo tarp support. I have a picture of the box art of the model sitting right here in front of me and my brain kept going there's something goofy here but the other half of my brain didn't acknowledge the fact that the other half of my brain is a *******. So I broke it off again and I'm looking at it and I realized that the headboard of the truck is on the tailgate and the tailgate is glued on to the front of the truck bed. Lord have mercy..

Ah yes, the old "headboard of the truck is on the tailgate and the tailgate is next to the cab trick!"
Been there, done that.
Been traumatized ever since...
Now when I cut parts off the sprue, I immediately place them on the mat in the same orientation as in the plans... checking it many times. And they stay that way until they're glued!
It doesn't help that the plans often flip the frame top bottom, front back, and everything in between!

Thanks Rob! Trucks aren't very glamorous, but you gotta love their tough utility!

Note to self: next time, drill out the tailpipe before assembly!

I glued the truck bed down to the chassis the exact reverse of the way it should go. Just a stupid bonehead move but I got to live with it because I tried to surgically reverse it and it's glued too darn good and the models is too flimsy. So it's going to stay that way. I'm still going to paint up the Flack 38 and stick it in the truck bed because it is pretty cool and should paint up really nice. It's my second World War II truck, the first being the dragon wagon which I didn't even finish because I didn't know how to weather way back then. Learning curve is right.

Well, after avoiding the wreckage for a few days, I pulled the pieces together and went back to the bench.
The drive shaft connects the halves of the truck, using one of those Tamiya poly caps. Measured the broken one at 2.0mm O.D.
Found a sprue very close, drilled out the crossmember, and mounted the sprue. Very solid and works as intended.

Next, the cab mess...

The worst part is I had to tell everyone that I screwed up. It's not like I cut off the Pilot's legs to fit him in the cockpit. Sorry Doug Bader, but you're going to fit in the cockpit so the other legs got to go.. Don't worry. No one will see it

I like it. Especially the mud on the windshield because it gave me an idea. I might make mine look like I tried to use the windshield wipers to clear the mud

I've done that with tape. Sorry late response. It looks good.

Well I am pretty much done. I tried a new way of doing my mud, I did not want to overwhelm the model but wanted realistic looks. I think turned out ok.

I ran into an issue with the guy so need a different head. For some reason no matter what I do I cannot get paint to adhere to it.

Jeep looks great! Here's mine. I'm done. Lots of mistakes. Windows look like crap, the headboard is on the tailgate. I am kind of happy with the Flak Hammer. I didn't really dirty it up but I found that the more I do this modeling the more I can handle the small bits. I'm not a great photographer so forewarned

Great build, looks good in the sunshine. Did you airbrush the camo or hand paint? Pantherman

Thanks Panther man. The camo is all airbrush except the weapon. On the weapon I airbrushed the base coat and then brushed the brown which I shouldn't have because you can see the stroke marks in it because I didn't give it a second coat. The green on the weapon is airbrushed
