Looks great. My first impression with my eyes just looking at the body. My eyes told me that rust looks great. Not looking at the wheels or the wheel wells just the body. That's what my eyes told me. Great rust effect. Don't get mad. I know it's supposed to be mud but that's what my eyes told me

Yeah it's not dry brushed in the coler yet or the sticks so on...

Had a little bit of trouble fitting the body I mean the cab under the chassis and the bed of the truck. Just gave me grief you wouldn't believe. Plus this is only my second truck. My first one was at Tamia Dragon wagon. Shake and bake. So ICM instructions are crap and I screwed it up somewhere at the beginning but live and learn. It's actually going to be a great mule for weathering but man this plastic is crap. Still a fun kit to build but very flimsy. Working on the gun and we'll get that in in a day or two

All this weathering is pretty new to me. Usually I am airplane, oob, Factory fresh. I made sure to put on a very good clear coat and it sure is nice to be able to flood it with odorless paint thinner and it doesn't FaZe it

I need to figure out how I am going to handle the camo paint job.
My advice is to first draw it on the model with a pencil, and only then reach for the airbrush.

Luckily for us modellers, MERDC camouflage often varied a lot in how it was actually applied, and much of it didn't conform very well to the official drawings. (If you need those, BTW, I have them in the manual I posted the markings from recently.)

An interesting variation on MERDC is to spray the large patches but brush-paint the black swirls. The manual says these should probably be hand-painted until/unless the painter gets skilled enough with the spray gun.

Well I am pretty much done. I tried a new way of doing my mud, I did not want to overwhelm the model but wanted realistic looks. I think turned out ok.

I ran into an issue with the guy so need a different head. For some reason no matter what I do I cannot get paint to adhere to it.

I may do a few more small things but I think overall done here. What you guys think? Ok?

... like the UBER eats delivery... ;)

So much detail! Very nice.
Solid build and good assortment of stowage, without going overboard!

Weird about the figure, if you don't use him, maybe he's just popped over to the latrines...

I like that you kept the palette simple, so subtle treatments like the seat material or the worn grab handles stand out. I also like the bare metal on some edges - that really takes away the 'plastic' feel, and to me at least, makes it more real. Weathering of the star bang on!

With a fair amount of splash mud, I might expect the tires and wheels to be a bit dirtier though... that's all I would add (not more mud, but dried dirt/dust maybe, basically nothing clean)

Nice build. Pantherman

And it's pretty clear in this photo, the blackish color is hand painted.

It looks like everything is: in both photos, all the colours seem to have hard edges to them.

What you guys think? Ok?
I think I would add a lighter or darker shade to the mud. Probably darker in the centres of the larger or thicker bits to give an impression of drying mud — if you were to add a lighter colour it would need to be around the edges, and then you'd have to do that to pretty much every blob of mud on the model.

Apparently, one of my cardboard sheets I use to control overspray, decided to fall over last night.
It landed on the primed parts, causing significant damage.
Both mirrors mangled, drive shaft snapped off, gonna take a little time and effort to fix...Sigh.

Oh man, drag. That's almost as bad as fumbling your model as you're walking out the door to paint it outside.

Oh no! So frustrating, and on the final stretch! Just know that there are addicts right round the world echoing your 'sigh'!
Thanks for the kind words. We've all been there, I guess.

It was going to be a relaxing Sunday. First coat of color in the morning, decorate the tree and watch the Bears this afternoon.

Anyway. The driveshaft shouldn't be too difficult, just drill it out and replace with something. I have a decent collection of brass rod.
The mirrors will be tricky. Might be able to piece them together, or build new arms out of brass.

Once on a heavy drop, we had one come in hot, upside down. Maybe I could make a diorama...LOL
