Mission Models has the shaker ball .
I wish that shaker ball was in every paint container out there .

The grey AK - those are new to me , hence the search for their composition and proper thinner .
I really like the AK Real Color , Mission Models and Createx for airbrushing .
Any of the " lacquer acrylics " are superior for AB work IMO .

The Mission Models and Createx use the butoxy ethanol as a solvent .
I still can't find the MSDS for the AK High Compatibility Thinner -- it has methoxy propanol and methyl ether in it per the label so there MUST be one out there . It should be accessible on their website . But nope .
I HATE these paint makers .
If I want info on a Liquitex or Golden or Rustoleum ( they'll answer your phone call and tell you ANYTHING you need to know ) or any other established manufacturer's product , no problem .
These guys like Valllejo , MiG , AK ? - good luck .

Thank you for taking the time to answer...

When I got back into the hobby half a year ago I only had my old humbrols... Så i used them while waiting for my Tamiya paints... I have to admit they go down a lot smoother and are a lot stronger than Tamiyas paints...

The next thing on my to try list are the metallics from AK... I think they're called extreme. I have a revell 1:32 Pby I want to try it on.

I have the brass in the AK " Extreme Metal " , it's an enamel and performs very well .
I'd definitely buy more of it .

I emailed Humbrol a couple years ago to inquire about their paint components .
They sent me back a canned reply that my question didn't conform to their requirements or something .
LOL - I was never going to use them anyways but I'll definitely never use them now .
I had used some of their enamel paints as a kid . Always liked their cute little containers :p

So the 155 spent around 6 hours in the dehydrator yesterday and is doing all day again today -- at 100 F .
I'm not taking any chances with lifting off the paint when I remove all the latex .
I removed the masking from the underside since I'm always afraid I'm going to weld the tape on ; it's never happened , but ....

I mixed the olive with the red-brown to tone it down ,

I haven't finalized the plan for the empennage yet ,
Want to put some color fore and aft , but I want to see what this pattern looks like first .

I like 'em .
Sprays very well and easy to clean from the AB .
No problems yet :D
A guy over on Armorama recently posted that he had issues with the stuff bonding but I've never had a problem .
The people replying to him confirmed my experience .
They're pretty much AB ready but I do use their butoxy ethanol thinner ( I would definitely not use lacquer thinner in them ! )
Appears the owner of the company is quite helpful if you need him :

That Khaki Drab I sprayed on there last had a bunch of grit in it .
It is a few years old now but I was surprised .
I never mix paints and thinners in the paint cup of the AB , so I was able to add the paint to the AB while leaving the grit on the bottom of the mix container .
Maybe they have a shorter shelf life ? - or it was just dried paint from the lid / upper part of the container that got mixed in when I shook the heck out of it .

Thanks !
It didn't take all that long to remove the masking . Only a little longer than applying it .
I used a toothpick to roll the blobs up until they either just came off or I could grab the latex with tweezers .

It will darken up with the panel line wash .
I want to paint the spinner and the tops of the horizontals yellow .
Think I'll paint the engine plumbing and canopy frame first --- I keep changing my mind on the horizontals .

Amazing what you can do with one of these with enough time spent...when I was a kid I would have done it in 2 days...now its months.

Thanks , guys .

Well , when I was kid I didn't have all these other responsibilities going on . So yeah , more than a week on a kit was unheard of :D
We'd build an entire fleet of warships in a couple of days and then sent them on fire with lighter fluid during " the battle " LOL .
No paint though . We knew what we were doing . Professional pyromaniacs ..

I built a huge diorama for the tank battle..100 pound of dirt at least..then destroyed most of the fleet. Now I look at what some of those models cost..holy crap.

Heh heh , Thanks , Q !

That grey-green base is a little too light for me but it will darken with the weathering .
hopefully :D

Thanks !
I love liquid latex masking .
Now I really want to build a Stuka and paint it like that example I posted .

I like the pattern , but it's way too minty :D
Might have to hit it with a filter depending on how it looks after panel line wash . I'm going to use watercolor so I can wipe it off it looks wrong ; starting with burnt umber .
Then spray it with matt clear - that AK Ultra Matte .
Need to remask the canopy . I would have left it covered but I had to check on how all that putty and scribing went .
I'm adding a white band with black borders around the fuselage just before the vertical stabilizer , and white at the tip of the vertical .

No , not Vallejo .
I'll be using the cheapo Academy watercolors for the wash. Then fix it in place with the clear-coat .
the filter will be a dilute acrylic --- haven't considered which , but probably from the Createx paints on hand .

Thanks !
Yes , there was a lot of field applied camo .
Since this was only an experimental aircraft with only 2 built , historical accuracy ain't too important :D

Besides , this is the 3rd prototype built - with the addition of an armor shield at the forward canopy LOL

Maaaaan ,
I didn't realize how off the white balance was on the camera .
The little blue rag I was setting her on went into the laundry and I replaced it with this green one .
I immediately saw how wrong the green was on the camera's monitor and thru the viewfinder . zoiingggg .
I corrected the temperature so the rest of the pix will be accurate .

Thank you , green rag .

Woa... That does look different... and a lot better I might add.

Color is such a complex thing... I had a talk with my 15 year old daughter over what Grey we should paint the Darth Vader Tie Fighter in, and she started with 'just any old grey' until I held the different greys up against browns, greens and blues...

Oh my... Her world of color got A LOT bigger that day.

Yes and the lighting is everything of course .
I need to keep an eye on it since just shooting from a different distance / angle is changing it . , and where I position the desk lamp .

That bottom photo is the most accurate .
But both photos are way way better than before .

Heh , if you scroll up to the photo that's last of the tail sitting on the scissors and compare it to the 2 pix immediately below it .
Same settings and effectively same lighting - totally different color . The scissor shot is actually pretty close .
The yellow is too bright .
:D That green rag was looking fluorescent . Hard for me to miss .

night before last I was staring at it on the monitor thinking what filter to remove the blue-tint ( orange ) .
That base does have some blue in it but not like what the photo was showing .
