OK!!!!

I managed to start some streaking (don't go there ) on the big girl earlier today. Sorry no pics on this yet, try and get some shots up later! :

Anyway...

I did however bite into the track for a bit. First I stippled down some AK Track Rust, dry, and then did a sort of wash with some thinner to soften it up. Once dry, I stippled off most of the heavies with a stiff brush leaving this...

Then I attacked them with some AK Dark Steel, using mostly my finger tip and also a small makeup spongy stick thing. The spongy stick thing allowed me to get some wearing effect to where the wheels/rollers hit the steel.

I gave the tracks a quick acrylic clear coat to protect what was done. Next stop on these, I get to try out some of the AK Track Wash I have! ;D

Figured I would throw this up. Where she stands now.....

Round 2 on the streaking and some more various washes and such to go.

A long way to go here, but making some headway!!

Shaping up very well "T" but i've only got one question: Would those exhaust pipe armor shields get that rusty being so heavy and an air gap between them and the pipe?

I've got a late model Jadgpanther to build one of these days and it would be nice to know.

@Texas - LOL...like that... "Kat Box"!!! ;D Great new reference to the base forthcoming!!

@Tony - It's sort of tough to say on the shields. From what I can tell from most pics, that still had there shrouds actually intact, mostly soot from the exhaust and probably localized rusting on the top and bottom areas from heat and wearing. The pipes inside still got burnt to hell, so I could assume, with some level of service, they could get all rusted out. I plan on hitting them with some hair spray treatment soon. Chipping most of the top and bottom edges, leaving some paint in the middle..not much..LOL. Adds a bit a flavor I think!! ;D A bit strange to wait, but I was more interested in building up as many coats of clear between the foil shrouds and my big fingers chipping away!!

Sah-Weeeet !! Rock It ! I dig th Trax & They will look even more th part after th Track Wash ( personally speaking - I am not one for th "Overly Rusted" look. It's not very realistic & in that fact , If th Panzer tried to take off with all of that rust They would break th track pins !! ) TRM , but you My friend .. after that Track Wash !!!

I too Dig th Raw Steel !! I just used some on Wittmann's Tiger , on th Road wheels ( steel road wheels) & I too used a Eye Shadow pad Thingy ... I think that's th Official Name .... ;D I think this Raw Steel is Bad AZZ !! It's a very fine powdered pigment ! I hope AK doesn't come out with any White Pigment ..... IT would be hell traveling through an Airport with a lil' Zip Lock Bag full of that ..... No Officer ... really , IT's Pigments. I use it to weather My Tanks ..... No Not real tanks ... They're like ( shows with hands) this big .... Well Officer ... if you don't believe Me then here .... taste this stuff !

I agree with Rob too TRM ... Th Chipping on th Muzzle Brake is Bad AZZ !! Great Job .... I have a few pix that even show wear down to th "Raw Steel" ( even smaller chips around th sides of th brake & around th end ) .. I'll look for them & shoot them to ya .. if interested.

Great lookin Stuff !! Hey ! I dig th Shell holes in th Turret & those #'s .. Great Wear on those !!!!

Thanks Erik! I follow ya on the rusty tracks. The pudding is in the layers. By the time the weathering process on em is done, there will only be a hint of any built up rust.

Always up for a good pic. Still need to do finals on the Dark Steel, just haven't made it to the brake itself yet, stil messing with horizontal panel corners! ;D I am looking for a new type of applicator for the stuff. Got an idea for something, I'll try and make one up today and see if it works! :

Yeah, white stuff in bags is not good at any airport! I think AK ships there "plaster" mix for mud effect on tiny zip locks...tough explaining that one!! Picture the cop trying to taste test the Dark Steel....Dude would look like Jaws from the old 007 movies!!!

I ordered some paint from Spru brothers tonight. I couldn't help but through a set of those Bronco tracks in the cart. I have a 14 year old panther build that needs them, lol

Sounds great BJ!! Take your time cleaning em up. Just a bit between the "toes" LOL!! I think I got most of them done in a couple night...not rushing, just having some coffee!!!



Here we go!!

Ok, I think I have the exterior pretty much set at the moment on this one. Little bits here and there left. I am turning my attention to the burnt section! I need to give some more "depth" to this area. This is going to involve a little patience on my part and an awful lot of Hair spray and salt .

First up, this is after the last rust wash...

Now on to the next stage. There was a clear coat in there somewhere..LOL…A little hair spray and some salt and a touch more hair spray to kind of “glue” it in place.

Added a quick shot of some deck tan…

After some more hair spray and a little more salt, I shot some Badger Light rust and some of my home brew faded OD and really light grey.

After removing all that salt and giving the surface a quick stipple with some water and a stiff brush, and then a light rust wash to bring up the tones….some of the colors are beginning to come out from the burn.

LOL…I still see some salt on top

Tomorrow night will be stage 2!!
