I have an idea for the van pickup.
I have an idea for the van pickup.
I'll bet you do, and no doubt, it'll be awesome!an idea for the van pickup
It will be like the others, 90% hand built, 12 cyl engine, but im torn on another salt racer, or an F1 style on road like the 53 Chevy pickup.I'll bet you do, and no doubt, it'll be awesome!![]()
"Why, accessorize daaarlings, it's all the rage!"
I take it you will be using paints and other pigments to take the shine off the puddy and give them the proper colors?Revisiting the stowage, I wasn't happy.
So I decided to make my own rolls and tarps with two part putty.

Oh ya, primed, painted, weathered. Rope or straps to add as well.will be using paints
Being here with all the types of models in one place i now see what military and aircraft builds are about. I never knew it took so much body work paint and detailing to make an airplane look right and real. The military stuff is the same but even more extensive in all the colors and textures and details found on the real vehicles, people and scenes. Now i understand the walls of paints putties and pigments. Carry on brother im looking forward to the progress.Oh ya, primed, painted, weathered. Rope or straps to add as well.
Totally agree... what I appreciate is figuring out how to adapt the solutions/tools/materials I see developed in other areas, to fit my problem space.Being here
Another thing i like about this site is seeing everyone's talents, i know it took years for you and these guys to hone your skills. Everyone's dedication is amazing. When it comes to what i do, when making a ground up build its having to look at the build for hrs, figuring what i have to do and making sure the next stage will work with what i havent even done yet. Most times i dont even draw much accept the foot print of the chassis as a passive jig to keep it symmetrical, and of course the first idea of how it will look. I build the bulk of an engine first then use that, the seat and a roll cage placed were i want them and start building up the rest from there. Its a lot of thinking measuring and fitting over and over so Im really glad the finishes are just basic pretty colors and chrome.Totally agree... what I appreciate is figuring out how to adapt the solutions/tools/materials I see developed in other areas, to fit my problem space.
Basically, problem solving is an art and a science in of itself, and so cool to get other perspectives!
C'mon Jakko, we all know you wet-sand your tanks with 6,000 grit, apply a gloss-clear which you then polish for hours, and finally apply wax for the mirror finish!car modellers tend to be much better at spraying clean, tight finishes than armour modellers are
Or salt , dont forget salt.Obviously, just like I know car modellers usually spend a couple of hours putting together the tyres and then that time again painting them in a bunch of different shades of grey, black and dirt.
Love the bbq board. Nice touch. PanthermanI'm just about finished with the interior of the Beetle. View attachment 179543
The windows are going to be broken out or down, that's why it so weathered.
Still trying to decide whether to start the body, or do the interiors of the police car and truck next.View attachment 179544
My opinion is "yes"!decide whether to start the body, or do the interiors of the police car and truck next
I don't think you need worry about that. You have all the street cred any modeler could hope for; what's important is that you find some enjoyment in the build, otherwise, in my opinion, it is all for naught.goodas the others
You should have seen my 2nd attempt, the first one went in the bin. By the time you have done the railings on the hornet you will be a master. Panthermanhi guys WELL im back working on the hornet doin the p/e an its not gone good as now i see why the other guys have left their p/e in brass shine as ive painted mine now its a job to see it oh dear an got the shakes as well an no where near as goodas the others

I also do not like working with PE. I built a New Jersey 1/350 that came with lots of PE. I tried but made a mess of it. I struggled to bend the pieces without breaking them or destroying them, and getting them glued in place didn't go much better. I was using Krazy glue and after I glued enough of the PE to my fingers I gave up on it.THANKS B/B but i admit im terrible on this p/e an no im not enjoyin fitting the p/e as its so fragile an a bugger to try an straighten out even with them p/e playiers that p/m bought me
so see how it goes tomrrow
CHEERS SIR

Do we really?Boatman, I skipped alot of the PE that came with the Pontos upgrade kit for my USS IOWA build to keep my sanity.
I learned alot of the kit plastic and PE parts were pretty darn good in comparison once painted.
Remember we do this to have fun.![]()
