Among other hobbies not related to painting/art, I love listening to as well as playing music
I am a self taught guitar player, but have been playing since I was a freshman in High School back in '83
I had been in several bands over the years ranging from punk rock to acoustic bluegrass type stuff
Recently I picked up a Tascam digital 4 track recorder and have been doing what I would call "guitar karaoke"
I find backing tracks of songs that have had all the guitar parts removed, and do my best trying to add my own back in.
It serves as a way to learn to play the songs as well as fiddle around with the recording equipment to try and improve recording techniques and the resulting sound
Most are the bass/drums/vocals/piano/keyboards with 2 overdubbed guitar tracks
At any rate, to challenge myself I tried doing these songs. Not perfect copies by any means, but maybe not too bad either?
Ozzy - Crazy Train
and for reference, this is the vocal/bass/drums backing track used
REO Speedwagon - Roll With The Changes
Smashing Pumpkins - Hummer
And probably the most complicated and was the hardest to learn due to complexity of all the different parts and trying to play harmonies with multi-tracked guitars
Geneis - The Knife
