I am REALLY enjoying Robert Capa's Slightly Out of Focus. His account of being declared "an enemy alien" while working for Colliers and Life is engaging and funny. I am up to his parachuting into Sicily with the second wave of the US invasion.

I am looking forward to his firsthand account of the "Magnificent 11" while landing with the first wave D-Day and his explanation as to why out of 4 rolls of film, only 11 images appeared on the developed rolls.

Getting caught up on updating this thread...

Along with "The First Battle of Manassas", I read "In the Shadow of Vesuvius" by Daisy Dunn, a biography of Pliny the Younger.
Then I re-read "The Battle of Midway", by Craig Symonds. I like that he provides some closer focus on the cryptoanalysis.
Right now, I am re-reading Victor David Hanson's "The Savior Generals". I enjoy everything Hanson writes, from classical history to current events. I like how he draws comparisons to classical history to modern events, and his analysis. I wish I had had him for a professor when I was in college.

Best regards,
Brad

I really enjoy Hanson as well!

Haha... Here's one for you: in highschool I worked as a 'page' in a library! 😆
After about 8 months of reshelving books and working in the stacks, the smell started making me nauseous!
Seriously?! I've never heard of such a thing and I'm glad I was never afflicted with it cause I do love books !

Re-reading Arthur C. Clarke's "2001: A Space Odyssey". I've read it many times before, but it's been a while since I last read it. I took the opportunity of getting a new library card to check it out.
