I have them locked away in their box, no mutiny on my watch. PM

Thought it was about time I got some more done on the hull so next step is to fit the 96 port hole PE covers.

Got them all cut out and cleaned but when I started fitting them Colin decided to eat 3.

Going to have to figure out a way to fit them perfectly into position first time without them flying from tweezers or dropping off the wax pencil. Pantherman

So I have found a way to fit the covers easily and accurately. Pantherman

That's looking great, but I'm still impressed by the individual ladder rungs.
They were the source of my greatest frustration on my USS IOWA build, very few made it on the ship.
Thanks. Found out that there were 2 different sized rungs when I started to struggle with fitting them. They were all side by side on the sprue so not very obvious.
If you look closely you can spot the odd one fitted unfortunately. PM

the odd one
What is it about being complemented having done a great job of something, like a truth serum, compels us to point out that little bit that isn't quite perfect?!! 🤔
My brother would have said "well, I know that you know that I know that you know, so I might as well point it out right away..." 😝

I just thought I would jump in first.
If the truth be told, I think that you really need to build 3 or 4 of the same kit to get that "perfect" model that you thought you could do the first time.

I'm happy with almost there. PM

I do this all the time. And worse, i do it to others too.

I blame 4 years of art-college, and almost 10 years as an illustrator, where criticism was considered to be a gift and expected.

I think, in general, that the crew here is old enough (cough) MATURE enough to see it as constructive not destructive.

I do try to stiffle the instinct.

I've said before that we should have a space here to post things where we ask for criticism. But I think I'm in the minority.,

... having a similar background, (art school) and worked in design until I retired, I've grown a skin like you find on in a bottle of Tamiya paint that didn't have the cap screwed on quite tight enough! Colleagues, a client's wife who happens to prefer "--insert colour of the year here--" or a corporate vice president who declares "the dog don't hunt". Have heard it all.

I think it is understood by most members posting in this forum, (and by and large I have found it to be true), that it is a 'safe' place to share our work and learn!
The spirit with which a comment is made usually turns out to be the deal breaker.

... and folks often do come right out and ask: "What do y'all think?"

Build is looking great! I agree 100%. I have built a 1/72 kit to get familiar with a vehicle then built the larger 1/48 or 1/32 version - not too sure it worked as well as I intended but I'm still in the beginner stage and working on my skills so…

Thanks. I built the Tamiya 1/350 Bismarck first to get a feel for it. Pantherman
