I have an a3 cutting matt sitting on a 1200 x 400 felt matt. I was thinking of getting a 1200 x 500 cutting matt but I wouldn't really need all that area for cutting so went with the cheaper option.

The felt matt was £13 on temu and they have the same size cutting mat for around £30. Pantherman
CHEERS P/M for mat infor i think i will lash out an get the big one as if i mess up the bit near me i can then turn the mat around an still have good modeling surface which i havnt got at the moment hope you are well my freind

Got the beast primed up today and fitted my first piece of PE, only 1499 part's left. Should keep me busy for a couple of hours... day's. Weeks, months, years........

I am looking forward to it though, it's a fantastic stress reliever. Pantherman

I like your approach regarding the instructions. It's very easy to overlook something with multiple instructions sheets. When I first started the USS IOWA, I found the Pontos instructions counter intuitive, mostly because there was no order to go in. As I progressed I saw the method to their approach.
Take your time and double check everything.

I have already found a couple of errors in both trumpeter and pontos instructions. Missing portholes and doors. I'm so glad I bought the Anatomy book, I double check everything against it. Pantherman

I discovered that with my ship too! One must be very careful, and I think pay more attention to the PE ones and refer to the plastic ones less often.

I have to say that considering how much the Pontos kit cost, the instructions aren't that good. They really should have a bigger set of plans for the details as there is so much that they all blend together or overlap. It's easy to fit the wrong part first only to find another part had to go under it. Pantherman

Haven't had much time at the bench this week as the wife in hospital. I am planning to get a fair bit done over the weekend when things settle down a bit. PM
