I think I will have to just build this kit as I don't think I can dry build the whole ship with PE and wood deck before fixing and painting some of the parts, especially with trying to add lighting as well. Pantherman

The kit part for the stairs and rail was useless so I went with the PE option.
I like the ladders on the smoke stack so I'm going to keep them but the small ladder each side was more like a garbage shoot so got rid of them and will make a small proper ladder, I'm getting the hang of them now. Pantherman

Are those the PE from the upgrade kit?
Got a little more done. Base paint on the superstructure and all drilled out for the lights. Funnel and hanger is glued together and just needs some more PE. Started the rear bridge and rear hanger.
Cleaned up some of the launches ready for the PE.
Everything is just dry fitted for now. Pantherman

Also bought another light with 120 mini leds. I think that is enough for now before jumbo jets start landing in the garden...... Pantherman
The yellow tape is just to hold it in place until the CA sets. Pantherman

Little bit more PE progress done. Had a go at one of the aircraft but not over happy with the PE on that. There are 2 in the kit but I am only going to use one on the launch so might have another go after painting this one. Pantherman

Nice intricate work. I'm always looking for another light. You just can't have too much light. Well, unless your name is Griswold
So I have the hull red done, it's under the mask and paper. Now painting the top of the hull which will just leave the black stripe and camo to do.
I need the camo started so I can dry assemble the decks to work out where the upper camo will go.
I'm still thinking about how to light up this build, but that can wait until most of the painting and decals are finished and protected with clear coat.
