I think I will have to just build this kit as I don't think I can dry build the whole ship with PE and wood deck before fixing and painting some of the parts, especially with trying to add lighting as well. Pantherman

The kit part for the stairs and rail was useless so I went with the PE option.

I like the ladders on the smoke stack so I'm going to keep them but the small ladder each side was more like a garbage shoot so got rid of them and will make a small proper ladder, I'm getting the hang of them now. Pantherman

So I have the hull red done, it's under the mask and paper. Now painting the top of the hull which will just leave the black stripe and camo to do.

I need the camo started so I can dry assemble the decks to work out where the upper camo will go.

I'm still thinking about how to light up this build, but that can wait until most of the painting and decals are finished and protected with clear coat.

I also bought the sticky mat. Great advice, thanks.
