This build will be working with the Moebius Models' Viper Mark VII.
I'll be working on a pair of them to be the CAG of the Battlestar Solaria, "Roguewing" Donovan, and her wingman, "Shadowhawk" Rhodes

First, a look at what I have in mind. This one is actually the old Sci-High 1/72 Viper Mk VII kit

To deal with the kit supplied cockpit's issues, I've made a mold of the Timeslip Creations Mk7E cockpit to use in its place.

It fits into the Moebius fuselage quite nicely.

The custom markings I've printed up to use in place of the kit names and numbers

You like your Vipers dont' you Q? That's ok, so do I. ;D

Great to see the cockpit mold done like this. Looks perfect for your needs and saves you 60 bucks!

Keep us posted.

Youre super viper man! and you can cast. something i'd like to learn sometime. awesome

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Wow, I got my Mark VII today, but there is no chance to get your detail! Wahnsinn! ;D

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

If you don't mind sharing, what font did you use to create the pilots' nameplates? I want to make a custom nameplate decal for a Viper MK2 and I'm having some trouble nailing down the font.

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

I am eagerly waiting the result of that casting!

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Yep. love my vipers.

@CPO,
Paragrafix makes an EXCELLENT Photoetch cockpit set for this kit

I just couldn't afford it right now, or I would have taken that route myself.

@Splashcoat,
It's a font I found online called "Jefferies"
I believe I found it at DaFont.com

@Grendels,
I should know for sure tomorrow

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

All right, started serious work on these today.
Built up a wall of clay around the mold to contain the resin I'd be pouring.

First cockpit after cleaning up some fo the overpour and cleaning out the openings for the pilot's legs

Both cockpits as they sit right now.
They still need some cleanup, but they'r coming right along

Nice work on the cockpit casts, I would have never thought of that approach. :) good idea, have to remember to commit that one to memory for possible future use.

just saw the video. great job Q! soooooo much better . the cockpit the kit comes with is junk!

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Glad to see that came out well. It is one to remember for future use....

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Thanks, guys.
Was the best option I had,and I'm glad it worked.
Still needs some cleanup, though

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Great work on that Quaralane. Very nice to see the method of casting there. I'll need to remember that! ;)

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Thanks for the compliments.
Glad I could show some of my own techniques

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Serious construction work starts on the "Solaria Flight"

Assembly of both upper cowls and rudder
moe-viper-mk7-09.jpg

Landing gear doors and lower grills into place
moe-viper-mk7-10.jpg

Twin female pilot figures are assembled
moe-viper-mk7-11.jpg

Guns are on the wings, and some cockpit cleanup gets done
moe-viper-mk7-12.jpg

Work starts on assembling the first set of engines.
Placing the tubing on the main engine is a tricky spot that will take both time and patience

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Nice job Q. In particular, those engines look very nicely detailed.

Re: Solaria Flight-Twin Moebius Mk 7 Vipers

Another really nice build you have going here Q! Love the cast cockpits, they look super. The female figures look like they have some pretty nice detail on them. I would say keep it rolling along, but I know you will!!
