Moebius Galactica

Oh, you can find several excellent lit up builds, Quaralane's comes to mind;) I think my build may be unique in that I used chip LEDs to light the flight pods

Well now, time for an update!

The weathering is finished, and I found a brass tube that was the perfect size for the DIN plug I'm using.

Even though the plug is CA'd into the tube, I added a small screw just in case the glue lets go.

Here's an overall shot:

For some reason, I really like this angle,

I'm very happy with how the lighting came out! cool white LEDS in the engines (clear parts with blue tint) and warm white for the flightpods. You can also see the red garage light.

Antennas! the main "spike" is a piece of stretched sprue, the lower spike is a micro pin connector and the rest are fiber optic strands, that way they will bend when bumped and not break

As for the base, here is what I have planned:

I'm quickly becoming a fan of these picture frames, cheap, available in several sizes and deep enough that you can stuff a AA X8 battery pack inside! I'll be making a video detailing how to use these to make a custom base!

Well, I'll be going on a well deserved vacation on Friday (going home to BC, haven't seen my wife in 7 months!)
After that I should have at least a part 1 uploaded a few days after that. :)

Excellent work !

Congratulation, can't wait to see it complete and with its base.

Back from the depths of page 5-6! ;D

Now that my Cylon Raider is out of the way, it's time to get the Galactica put to bed! I took advantage of a day off to finish the wiring. kinda messy, but it all works ;)

you can see up front my canister to direct light to the "brick". Once the body halves are glued together, the head can be slipped in place.

My "custom" distribution panel!

After some trial an error for fitting the top of the body in place, I got the main hull glued together and puttied up the seam in the flight pod garages with some Aves.

I think it's time for a light test!

Kinda grainy, but you can see the brick is nicely lit!

This shot (kinda looks like the Adama Maneuver) really shows off the garage lighting!

Now there is some detail painting to do, glue on the engine nozzles and guns and then build a base!

The fiber optics look amazing. I am getting started on a Moebius build myself. First time model builder. I was wondering of your did your paint job under the forward gator section before or after trimming the fiber optics on the exterior.

Thanks, Love this build, answered a lot of my questions.
