Moebius Galactica

DARPH,

WoW ! Great detail on such a small model !! Love th landing Bay !! Is there any way to get th Landing Bay lights to chase ? Did They do that in th Show or am I thinking of when They would take off ?

I did see a build on youtube that featured chaser lights,so it is possible. I'm thinking teeny tiny circuit card was involved!

Awesome painting here! That drybrushing really did a lot to the look of the hull.
And awesome lighting as well.
Can't wait to see some new progress :)

Back from the depths of page 5-6! ;D

Now that my Cylon Raider is out of the way, it's time to get the Galactica put to bed! I took advantage of a day off to finish the wiring. kinda messy, but it all works ;)

you can see up front my canister to direct light to the "brick". Once the body halves are glued together, the head can be slipped in place.

My "custom" distribution panel!

After some trial an error for fitting the top of the body in place, I got the main hull glued together and puttied up the seam in the flight pod garages with some Aves.

I think it's time for a light test!

Kinda grainy, but you can see the brick is nicely lit!

This shot (kinda looks like the Adama Maneuver) really shows off the garage lighting!

Now there is some detail painting to do, glue on the engine nozzles and guns and then build a base!

So I was working on the engine lighting this evening, trying to figure out the best way to cut the brightness of the LEDs. If I was a wee bit more clever, I would have made a diffuser plate to tone down the brightness and hot spots before closing the engines up!. My work around was to loosely pack some cling wrap into the engines, and voila! hot spots gone!

Here's my engine test;

Looks good! One way to diffuse the LED's is to file down the outside of them. Then you don't need a diffuser.

Unfortunately I set the LEDs deep into the engines, reaching them with sandpaper isn't an option :p At least the kling wrap is working well ;)

Bobo, I'm fast becoming a big fan of your lighting effects! That cling film works really well for diffusing the hot spots.

Thanks Igard! It's good to know the gov'ts spending all that money to train me as a naval electrician hasn't gone to waste! :D

In other news, was mucking about with the camera tonight,

Wow, this is some really amazing work. The lighting really brings it to life and I dont think I've seen this kit lit before. Nice work.
