Jaitea's Falcon Projects

Yes Quaralane, it has had quite a few chops, I'd love to know how Ozzy's MPC project is going....which had an even more intensive chop list.

I've been basically tidying up this project adding pieces here & there, re-attaching the cockpit walkway (after my last batch of photos the piece fell and broke at the angled part, it needed re-filling, so it is now slightly different......i felt it now should be part if the main build again)

Thanks MJ, but there's still heaps to do!

Tonight I re-attached the lower Jaw and over the next week or so I'll be concentrating on the underside of the Falcon

Wow, talk about a complete rebuild! The amount of time that you're investing into your build will certainly pay off when it's finished. Keep it up!

Thanks very much Jurasikfrank & Scratchy

You're right about the time i'm putting into it.....its like 3 steps forward & 4 back at the minute.....I spent a couple of nights making the docking rings again, I scrapped the last ones, they looked too big even though they were made with the measurements of the cockpit tube, so I started again....had both made, then on looking at them today they weren't circular enough, rolling the poly sheets to make them didn't work out.

Trying to plan new ones tonight.

I've taken a different approach to making the docking doors....& I've also added more detail to the inside of the actuator flaps

Hopefully the rings'll work out this time

Thanks Quaralane,

I think I'm making progress with the docking tubes

The metal part inside is from an old VHS head drum, it will serve as a background to the details and the airlock door

I drew the panel lines on the masking tape, then I'll peel it off and stick it to some thin card and cut out the panel parts

That's smart !
Will definatly use this tip in the future.

Looking really good Jaitea! Sweet work on the engine nozzles andthe paneling on the docking ports, I'll be doing the same work for the engine nozzles for mine.

Thanks Jurasikfrank, Quaralane & Scratchy,

Jurasikfrank, the tape idea came about accidentally, I was going to use the tape so that I could get the overall shape of the cone for the panels, I started doodling on them, then I decided to refine my doodles with pen, I'll use this method for future projects cause it worked well

Scratchy, the engine nozzles were from the FM 1/72, because I bought the clear resin ones for that one. The added stuff on the actuator flaps is just me trying to make the engines look more functional......don't know if I should add a grill like the FM kit....it might hide all that lovely detail....hmmm?.... any thoughts

J

Well, I'll be making some custom nozzles and grill for my 144. However, if the nozzles are going to be hidden behind the grill, then I'll probally widen the openings of the grill slightly. I won't have mine lighted, since this Falcon will be at rest in a Hoth dio.

Ohhh I'm still not happy with the cones, they don't look symmetrical, gonna have to start again

Thinking of using some kind of bottle top, like bleach or something

The cones I've made look ok from some angles, but from others they look home-made & it wrecks the scale

J

i found a bottle top which was around the same diameter and I found that if I pushed it into the cones that I was unhappy with it almost corrected the symmetry. I thinned down the thickness of the cones so that they could be influenced more by the bottle top and make them more circular.

I know the hexagonal doors are maybe a bit large, I'm gonna have to work out what height of Han & Chewie

I just love the effort here J, really big slap on the back, and if you're ever near Essex I'll buy you a pint lol
