All right, now we have the current project on the bench.
This time, we're going with a hypothetical "Viper Mark 3" based on the 2003-2008 version of Battlestar Galactica
Technically, I'm trying to do this as a contest entry, but I'm not worried about who knows about it.
We start with the basic schematic adapted from the Viper Mark 2
(Original Mark 2 schematic drawn by bagera3005)
Fuselage vents/panels being filles with Aves ApoxieSculpt
Landing gear assemblies done
Work on the cockpit:
Basecoated in Testor's Neutral Grey
Seat was painted in in Olive Drab
Picked out some of the dials in black, and hand-painted the back of the Dradis screen
The whole assembly was given a black wash before being placed in the fuselage
Cockpit inserted into the main fuselage.
Bottom plate with completed landing gear assembly.
Also did some SERIOUS sanding onthe main seam line running down the center of the fuselage
Wing customization work.
Middle section of the wing was cut out with a razor saw, then the inserts/adapters were cut from sheet styrene and glued to the parts
Assembly mock-up to get a feel for the progress.
I still need to add the new airfoils, but this gives a really good idea of where the build is going.
I still need to skin the wings as well.
