make it look easy
...smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors... 🤫

Thanks for the kudos!

Learned a lot on this one: just like with how 3D CAD renders, if I can train my brain to see objects in their primitive geometric shapes, more than half the battle is won at this scale. 🤔

What I'm coming to realize is that just like with my figures, my weakest link is in the paint. Too thick, impatient to get it done... Somehow I feel I have all the time in the world to design/build, then I rush the paint.

But I'm pretty happy with how this turned out... Hope I don't blow it on the exterior! 🫣

Beautiful!!
I can practically smell the inside of that tank- from my memory, they all smell like diesel, paint and Cordite inside, I imagine older ones even more so.
I was not a tanker, but spent enough time in M113's and Bradley's to remember that smell. 🤣

Brian-WOW! You really like adding small details! Your scratch-building is very good! It appears the term "box stock model" is not something you are familiar with (HA! HA!). Everything done so far is very impressive. Keep up the good work!

... Time to confront a nagging question: What do those Besa machine guns look like from inside the turret?

Not much luck searching the web.

Then I remembered I had a Humber armoured car in the stash, with a similar configuration... Side by side 7.92 and 15 mm Besa machine guns! It won't be super accurate, but considering I put wingnuts in the driver compartment...

Plus the kit has the actual plastic parts I can reference!
I will only attempt the guns, the sights and perhaps the shoulder rest.

Had you lived closer to me, I would have sent you a 7.92 mm Besa — I've got at least three or four from AFV Club Churchills in my spares box. But you're making good progress on these :)

Wireless and headsets before painting.

I find that scratch requires something of a leap of faith: unless you have fantastic skills, stuff looks somewhat hokey, and (you hope) that the basic shape geometry, painting, positioning and context will be enough to carry it!

If not, you can do the Hokey Pokey! …and turn yourself around!

Scratched a holder: modified PE belt buckle, cupped disk from brass sheet, copper tape straps, cut PE sprue for the frame.

Painted up, along with a resin box from the tickle trunk. Both ready for mounting in the fighting compartment.

Ah, exactly what I was looking for! So the fire extinguisher is brass! (I couldn't sleep last night and started my French FT).
