I find that scratch requires something of a leap of faith: unless you have fantastic skills, stuff looks somewhat hokey, and (you hope) that the basic shape geometry, painting, positioning and context will be enough to carry it!

Ah, exactly what I was looking for! So the fire extinguisher is brass! (I couldn't sleep last night and started my French FT).Scratched a holder: modified PE belt buckle, cupped disk from brass sheet, copper tape straps, cut PE sprue for the frame.

I find that bronze or a mix brass/bronze lends a tarnished look for them...brass
