Wow, they molded the airplanes in "clear"? That looks kind of hard to work with (my eyes not being young anymore...)!
The ship looks amazing!
Best regards,
Kurt

ATB to you SIR an if you look in tonight you should see how the plane will look all sprayed up as i use rattle cans

Boatman Boatman, now you are not crying over those huge 1:200 planes that came with your kit! Maybe you should have bought the 1:350 kit; at least the air craft are made out of normal grey plastic.

We know we have 16 B-25's; how many are you figuring on for the air wing? My best guess, from the the Navy, is 65. I have them about 50% complete. The hardest part was installing 130 horizontal stabilizers, in the right position, and keeping them there. My fix was after the liquid glue dried, was to apply thin Ca to the wing joins.

I noticed in your posts your hanger walls have some of the doors open. Did your kit come with pre-cut doors?

Is it typical that these planes are made out of clear plastic?
HI Ron2 well i dont know about whither its typical or not but had a big 1/32 tamyia phantom that a freind sent me an that had a big clear plastic nose section so all the gatlin gun could be seen but i dint like it like that clear so i painted over it but ive not had an other kits with these clear parts so dont know sir

WELL GUYS ive been at this plane since 11 am so all afternoon an freinds poped in so i could not fit on the decals today ive treid an fixed the prop as it broke 6 times an i nearly lost it but i must have a stubbon streak in me an the under cart broke 4 times but kept at it but not a bad effort for a first try but must get better an i dint notice that the tail plane is not centrall but will watch out for that in the futer an yes the undercart is a bit high but i think i will leave this off on the next planes an use brass rod an cut off the wheels to fit to the brass rod now some pics of my first attempt on the plane say what you all think if you think its crap then say so but i was fairly pleased but yes room for improvement an you can see how small the plane is compared to my finger tip

Seems odd they would make the planes out of clear plastic. Very different type of plastic.

Looks good. If I were you I would add the props at the very end of the build- right before you display it.
HI Ron i did do that fitting the prop on last but it was cuting it off the sprues as i said it very brittle plastic an even though i went gentle to cut out the prop it broke an same with the undercart so im goin to fit on brass rod an then fit the wheels to it
cheers Ron for you reply
chrisb

very brittle plastic
I hear ya... with very delicate and/or brittle parts, it is very to hard slice or nip them from the sprue, just the action of the nippers can be enough to crack or damage them.
I have had some success with micro saw blades that fit into your standard hobby knife handle, something like this:

1661.jpg

Look for thin and a high tooth count.

I have a different brand, for which I no longer have the packaging, but Tamiya makes some, same idea: ultra thin (like .1mm) blade that is itself PE!
Click on this Hannant's Tamiya link to see what they have listed online under 'razor saw', along with others.

Did you use a primer first?

--Rich

HI Rich no i cant see the point of usein primer on the plane as it will be just viewable throught them hanger doors which are on the ship model only about a inch wide an its sprayed up ok in my opinion
ATB SIR
chrisb
I wonder if he meant that perhaps painting the parts with something, first, would help? They wouldn't be clear parts anymore.
Best regards,
Kurt
