We are always our own worse critic.....
However, "Looking good" doesn't mean there is no room for improvement.
One thing I found on my IOWA build is to get the pe railings glued in place first. Winning one battle. It was never perfect, but with them being glued down securely offered a chance to adjust and align them closer to perfection, if you're gentle.
One step at a time......:)

OK Kevin my freind yes message received an understood but i looked closely at your iowa p/e an to me it looked perfect an i thought well you sir are younger than me an a more steady a hand as i get the shakes when puttin this ole p/e on an yes i suppoce you are right sir by sayin we are our own worst critcs but so far doin this ole p/e its been a nightmare for me an yes ive even dreampt of this bloomin stuff an woke up in a cold sweat oh dear
chrisb

HI Guys well im still battleling this ole P/E an by gum its peeing me off bad but i had another go at it today an it came out a bit better but not great but a least ive fitted some on an ive used a tiny set sqaure from a cracker an it did the job great to keep the p/e glueing tight an fairly straightView attachment 183407
I knew you would get there, soon be giving lessons.. Pantherman

Thanks, but yes it was a nightmare for me as well at times. I had such high hopes at first looking at the perfect installation photos in the pontos instructions.
It took me awhile to accept the fact that it is only going to be as good as I can make it. Once that was realized, alot of the frustration went away.

YES P/M i would like to but this was an exspensive kit an this p/e is the only trouble that is buggin me so i want to finish the model with a bit of p/e that ive managed to dol an no other if possible as some of it wont be seen as when i fit the big flight deck plus ive never binned a model in my life as long as i can remember

Good on you for persevering. I know what you mean about trying to use the kit part's as you pay alot to get the stuff in the first place.

Anyway, I'm sure it will look amazing like all your other builds. PM

THANKS P/M it wont be a top rate model but at least it will get built an thats my main aim as im really looking forward to building the tiny planes like the B25 michtells an such

IN FACT why dont the kit maufactuers make the railings in a bit thicker plastic as i think i had them done like that on my linberg blue devil desroyer an they kept nice an strainght if i remember rightly
chrisb

Nah , it's so it's inscale -- imagine the freak-out over fat , out-of-scale railings
WELL i would not mind them if they were strong an kept straight as remember its only a model an people build cartoon models

HI Guys well im still tryin to work out how these hangar bay sides of the ship fit together as ive treid this way an that an they dont fit AAARRRGGGGG BUT yes im sure im doin somethin wrong but after today messin around with them im a bit closer to doin this an the bloomin instructions are useless an the parts are not numbered so i'll have anorther go tomorrow an some pics of these bloomin sides View attachment 182154

Hey Boatman, glade to see you back on CV8, and she looking good. Putting up the hanger walls so that they fit seems to be a common probable with these kits. As of this week I decided to put aside all of my projects and concentrate on the Hornet. In six days, I managed about 4 hrs production? Any way, I am suppose to be working on the hanger walls. My plan will probably be to build the walls using the flight deck as a guide tiokeep them square!

so boatman , are you enjoying this kit and subject thus far? its on the someday list , but i tend towards the more modern carriers. i would like to try this one just due to the size and scale which i enjoy. would love to see an Intrepid , modified Essex, in this scale. as far as the oil canning effect , i stumbled on this youtube channel by a fellow named "ocean blue". he does a very simple airbrush technique for that effect which im looking to try sometime soon.... im too chicken right now.

G/M all im struggleling with this carrier an the p/e just cant do it as im ok normally but when i try this p/e fittment i just get the shakes an the harder i try the worst it gets an yes ive done what others have said pack up an go an have a cuppa but when i come back to it its the same more shakes honestly ive never been beaten before on any model but this stuff takes the prize an my ability to fit it on but ive got P/M comin to see me at the end of the month hopefully he maybe show me where im goin wrong on this p/e an if no better then im leavein the damm stuff off the model as it will hardly be seen when i fit on the flightdeck sorry for running on all an yesterday i lost another days build as freinds invited jen an i to go over theirs for a turkey dinner just out of the blue an i could not say no as jen wanted to go oh dear an no building today either jen has got to go hos right in the middle of the day oh dear again well hopefully i can get in a days build tomorrow
chrisb
The cuppa- if it has caffeine that will make your shakes worse.

HI Domer yes im enjoyin the kit apart from the p/e an very tiny parts but i will build this kit but not put on all the p/e as some will be not seen due to the big flightdeck an yes i love the modern carriers as thats why i built the uss nimitz super carrier an im goin to put on here some pics of her that glenn s asked for but i havnt got many as the complete build is on a old laptop from 20 yrs ago but the chap who has her now still sails her in portmoush
