Bismark 1/200 build

Hi, I need a little bit of advice. Never built a ship and have a chance at the one in the photo but also never heard of the make.

Is it worth the money? Pantherman

Haha , that's why I made my downdraft spray table so large - to handle big projects like that .

OH DEAR if you are gonna save up you will never get it in my opinion but my 1/200 hornet is a great kit much better than the smaller kits but yes its exspensive but if its like my hornet kit you will get your moneyies worth so go for it

Well I figure it will take a couple of years to build it so I suppose it will be worth it. Pantherman

CAUSE it will an you wont get bored with the kit as there is always some new part to build as that the reason why i will go for another 1/200 kit when ive built the kits ive got already an in the future they may have even more detail wow

I was shocked when I started pricing the Trumpeter 1/200 USS IOWA and the Pontos Detail Up kit, plus paint and tools, I was just under $1,000.00
I figured you only live once, so........
If you don't buy your Bismarck you are going to spend that money anyway on other kits, it will just take longer to spend the same money.

I started the build six months ago, and I'm probably 75% finished.

I'm thinking about it the same way. Kinda a long slow build and because it would have cost me so much I feel that I would really make the effort.

Lot's of research to help me understand what I was building rather than just sticking it all together quickly and then on to the next one.

I have a fair stash of kits for a break when I'm starting to get bored with it. Pantherman

If money is not an issue I say go for it. I also say well done on your pension/career/retirement planning!

I've built one ship in the last ~40 years, it was a 1/350 from Trumpeter. One issue with the plastic but overall quite good, and the tons of PE that came with it were not insurmountable, but I would question the need for an add-on detail kit. That said I did purchase a deck for the wood planking, but that was all, the kit came with PLENTY of detail.

I have a 1/200 DD kit in the stash, since it came with 1,800 parts, I have ZERO interest in adding more

Nah more detail on the 1/200 an easyier to build as bigger parts

If I finish successfully the USS Missouri, I may be looking at the Bismarck Revell kit 1/350 (+/- 100€) with the Pontos kit (+/- 300€).
Still expensive ...
