Help Support Scale Model Addict:

Thank you Patrick.

Working on the 2nd deck for the forecastle at the moment and had to add some support for the deck.
Will post some pics later.

Good evening.
I did get that 2nd deck installed on the forecastle, but had to do some modification.

When it was test fitted, it just wanted to fold in, in the centre. There is no centre support for this deck, so I had to add some ribs of double thick card to keep it flat.

It was simple and worked quite fine.
Added also were the lean rail to the forecastle bridge and the 2 side observation bridges. The mid breakwater and the protective wall around the 2 forward AA positions, have also been added.

So this is where I am at tonight.

Nice fix on that, Jim.
Learning to use that rib trick on my build, too. It definitely helps

For tonight's update, the 3rd level of the forecastle has been added ( the bridge). The upper deck decking, I had the same problem as before, and had to add support for the deck.

Since the next level has an overhang near the rear of this deck. Before it can be installed, 2 optical range finders have to be installed first. I have started work on assembling these.

For those old enough to remember this.

These are the optical tubes for the 2 rangefinders on the bridge deck.

Now that is some malicious wok there!! Thanks for sharing some of the process!! Gives a nice sense of scale as well!! Keep up the great work! ;)

Thank you Todd.

I hear people complain about PE, so I thought I would show this to show what we go through with this genre.

Jim

Beautifull work Jim. I'd love to try one of these paper models one day. You make it look easy, and I have no doubt that it isn't!!! Keep it coming.

Chris

Good evening all.
Was able to achieve a few things today.
Those 2 rangefinders are complete.

They have now been attached to the forecastle. It's always something when the smaller details start to show up on a model.

Also constructed and installed are the Forward Artillery Control Rm and the Admiral's Sea Cabin.

I am working on the 7m Rangefinder, that sits atop the artillery control rm. The turret for it is just sitting in place right now, not glued on.

I think that I am going to start the funnel next, as there are some crossover pieces to the forecastle, after the range finder is finished.
