Phew, lots of canopy masking. I'm going with this one fairly buttoned up: most of the doors, windows and hatches closed. We all know the fit is bad, especially the clear parts, so I'll have to put the Pilot's top canopy in the open position as it in no way can fit in the closed position (falls right through).

Always a great day when the wings, fuselage and tail all get glued up. I'm kinda surprised how much I'm enjoying this build even with all its faults. I think nostalgia has a grip on me.
I remember always seeing this kit when I was a kid. Never pulled the trigger on it and probably good I didn't. But maybe now I will. Just bizarre and cool at the same time.

Well, I got a lot more done today than I expected, glad for the holiday day off. Pleased with my final topcoat. I used Vallejo Gloss Black Acrylic primer, lightened with a bit of gray, thinned with IPA. I like that it's lighter and not black black. I shot straight gloss black on the nose cone for some contrast. I'm a little fearful of the clear Future coat as it tends to make colors a bit darker, but I'll need a smoother surface for all the decals.

Invasion stripes done. I used the Vallejo gray primer, which usually looks more like an off white, because I didn't want them being too white, wanted to dirty them up a bit. But against the black they look grayer. Oh well, not gonna lighten them up any. Trying to mask evenly around the booms was difficult.
