With a base coat on that ladder frame, I can finally think about getting the engine mounted!

I was thinking of leaving the engine out and mount the cab measure back about 3 ft on the frame and cut that off. Get rid of the tank tracks and put on a rear end differential with some huge slicks. Mount directly behind the cab a huge ass blown cartoon monstrosity of an engine, throw on a pair of tiny wheelie bars and call it the wheelie truck. Now go out and have some fun. Yahoo

If I remember rightly wasn't there a guy in like a VW truck that build it to just do wheelies down the racetrack? And I'm pretty sure he had a little viewport in the floorboards? And one more thing. With the parts in the kit that you don't use? I could build that. Cuz I got a differential and more tires and drive shafts and a whole different body I could stick on this thing. Amazing sometimes with the extra parts they give you

Not sure yet if I will bother detail painting the engine as the hood will be closed and it'll be hidden completely.

I was contemplating the same thing since the hood on the Unimog is molded as part of the cab. I slapped some paint on the engine just so I would feel better about it.

I'll probably just spray it a grey or Metalish color, paint the air cleaner and call it a day. Not too much but also just a bit of color.

Finally. Got a few hours in today.
Decided to forgo many of the 3D decals, as they involved remove the molded on item.
Not sure I wanted to go there, having never used the 3D decals before.
I will use the ones not requiring surgery.
We are talking about things like the reflector and marker light on the rear fender.

Having decided that, I got quite a bit done today. Most of the major sub assemblies are finished.
And once the putty on the pin marks dries, I should be able to wrap up the main assemblies tomorrow.

I am really close to primer time. Need to go to the garage and clean up my painting area.
