Tamiya Vought F4U-1D Corsair 1/48

I looked at the cockpit, when I got home. It seems my phone takes a brighter color than what it is.
I did add a wash to it anyway.

Beginning stages of the Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp R-2800 CB16, 2-Row, Radial 18 Engine. Tedious work, but it was fun being my first try.
I still need to glue the wire ends down.

Keep going, you will soon have enough part's on the floor for a scratch build!
Pantherman
I know. Lol
To top it off I lost a part from the sprue. I'm not so worried about the micro PE parts zinging away as much as the actual build parts.
I contacted Tamiya - USA to see how to go about getting a replacement part.
And with that I called it quits around 1:00am.

I did get some done. :)

Looking good!

As far as the lost little part, rubberband some nylon socks or similar material over the end of a shop vac hose

Vacuum and frequently check to see what is getting trapped

I have recovered several parts from the carpet that way that I had thought were lost for good

The vacuum is a good idea.

I have bookshelves throughout my office and it sounded like the part flew behind a shelf.
I contacted Tamiya and they're sending my part.

The PE parts, as we may all know, are so tiny that the parts virtually disappear. :D
Thank goodness I usually have extra PE sprues that I can cannibalize should I need it.

This is on the Vought F4U-1D Corsair; are these lights and if so what color(s)?
They look like they could be lights.

I have looked on the web and on YouTube and cannot find any information. The instructions call for this to be painted black.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Looks like the hairspray is doing some chipping work for me.
Time to get some proper chipping fluid.
Kinda looks cool though. :)

Any recommendations for a good chipping fluid that won't break the bank?

I started some color scheme painting tonight.
I attached what I am using as a "guide" for color placement. However, I am using the darker Navy blue.
My phone does not represent the color as it is in life. It produces drastic differences. lol :D
My phone must love drama...

Started the muddling and fading the paint as I go. I think, once I seal it with a falt coat it should tone down the muddling?

Starting on the wing assembly. I planed for one wing folded and one wing down. But now I'm not sure if I want them both folded.
Both wings cannot be down as I had to make a modified cut in order to fold the wing as indicated by arrows.

It's looking great. So both wings up on this one and then both wings down on the next one?

It's a great excuse to get another kit for the stash!!

WHEW! This was difficult for me. This took almost an hour for just one side.
