U gonna wanna build this U-Boat

So I had to chop into the inner tube and remove a few pipes that wouldn't be seen to get the lighting in.

Put a small bulkhead in the diving planes area to seal off the light getting through. It's a bit messy so I'll clean that up.

Managed to get a fibre optic in the coning tower connected to the LED's at the rear. It's not great but it does give out a little light.

Now going to dry fit the front and if all goes well I can glue it all up tonight so tomorrow will be masking and priming hopefully. Pantherman

Well I managed to get it all together reasonably well, just a bit of a seem line on both side's of the deck.

Just a bit of sanding to do tomorrow before the primer. All masked up so no dust gets inside. I also found a hull section for the coning tower cut out on the sprue which seems kinda weird as it's designed to be visible? Came in handy as saved me masking up,just need to pop the piece out later.

Decided to leave all the fiddley bits until later as I'm bound to knock them off. Pantherman

So I sanded off the surplus filler and sprayed on a black primer. When it dried there were several gaps so I refilled, dried and sanded it again. It felt lovely with no gaps or bumps but after respraying the sanded area it looks awful.

I suppose it's back to sanding and filling again but could use some suggestions to help me get it smooth without loosing the fine detail please. Pantherman

I've been using Zap-A-Gap. It works really well for covering and sealing gaps.
Your boat is looking really nice.

I have 3 U-boote 1/350 in different stages of build... and focusing now on a Boeing Stearman 1/72 (yup, the old Revell one). When would this U-Boat build end?
You have plenty of time if you want to join in. We have group builds often and we would love to have you join our group.

Like Golanthius said, it's done when you finish your kit.
I have finished with my kit. This is my first sub, and I enjoyed building it, and yes mine is the 'ol Revell kit. Surprisingly there was little flash.

Lot's of sanding and scraping later it's looking a little bit better. Just a little bit more to do then a final rub down with 600 grit sandpaper should do it.

After that is a good wash and dry so all ready for touching in the primer hopefully. Pantherman

This will be my next build. But, I want to make it a Rat Rod! I plan to "fade" the decals a lot just to where they are barely visible.
I love rat rods!

I found this on amazon fir $20.99 / £16.54

Here are a few of what I might try.

So after alot of sanding and filling it's almost OK. Not entirely happy but I can live with it.

So I have added the guard rail post's and primed everything. Let that settle for a day then base coated the entire hull. Let that settle then masked up ready for top hull grey which I sprayed this morning.

Big reveal tonight and desperate to check if the lighting still works, it does. Photos attached.

Just a gloss coat, a few washes, decals, a nice black wire guard rail and any little touch in bit's then it's done. Pantherman

So she's in the dry docks now waiting for wash and last few bits of touching in.

Not long to go. Pantherman

I might be very tempted to go for this as my birthday treat in May, just one of those "I've got to have it models "

It's the most expensive kit I will have ever bought and I have no idea where it will go when finished but I just want to build it.

I reckon it's at least 2 months worth of a build. Pantherman

That ought to be a really fun build. Isn't that a fairly large build?
2 foot long (69± cm)?
