The problem is that it's all the little bit's that take the time. Pantherman
The USS IOWA is almost four ft. long, and the Pontos pieces are so tiny......it took me awhile to wrap my head around the fact I was building the largest model I ever built while using the smallest parts I ever dealt with.

I found that the intense concentration focused my mind and made me relax, forget about life, the universe and everything.

Also the pleasure in getting those tiny, almost impossible, bits to fit together helps. Pantherman
That's interesting because that was what hooked me on modeling a year ago. I've found as I progressed I lost that therapeutic effect and have been toying with different ideas to get it back. I've tried doing kits outside my usual- biplanes, the ww1 armor, ships has helped gain some of that back. I was also considering trying more 1/72 kits as they're so small and tedious- kind of like the PE you are doing. I'll have to add PE to my list of things to try to get this benefit back.

The good thing about a build as big as this with all the extra PE is that you can swap from basic building to painting or PE when you get bored with the bit your doing.

Decided to concentrate on the hull for a while so got some base coats done and now starting to detail the camo.

My masking really is shocking, just look at the stripes. The white overspray on the red I wasn't worried about as this will get a final coat of hull red when the upper hull is done. Pantherman
