The adversaries face off....

Looking awesome! I reaaly like the looks of the wall! Keep this going!!! ;D

The castle and it's base especially (still the castle looks great overal, but that base is whoooow!!) they've turned out reeeally good!
Seriously, John. I've almost fallen out of the chair with shock when I've seen those rocks pattern zoomed in. I've expected something very well done when I 've seen your work over that pattern in it's beginning, but the result has overcome all my expectations. Thats a 1005 of realism achieved.
One thing I'd recommend You with that small problem spot on the base, and a little bit on the whole structure is adding just a pair of touches with green pigments, as it is common for the moss to grow on such castle bases

WOW!,this dio is coming together nicely, your definitely making us run for the our money on this one.

Castle turned out uber sweet. I'd love to build one of those.
What did you use for the green on that roof?

SLW45, Quaralane, Java, and TRM: Thank you! I too love happy accidents!

Myke: The color is a custom mix. Here is the recipe: 20 drops of Tamiya XF-14 J.A. grey, 9 drops of Tamiya XF-14 Sky Blue, and 3 drops of Tamiya XF-13 J.A. green. I then went back and dry brushed the roof with the J.A. grey.

It was a fun build, and I will build another one soon.

Solander: Thank you! I do have reference photos of bushes growing out of the base. Not moss, but bushes. So you read my mind, I am going to do a bit of hand painting and put a bit of a bush there to cover it up.

I will have an update sometime this weekend, work kicked me this week.

I didn't know the Aves could be bent like that. Good to know.

Looks like you may well be on the way to getting this running

You are on the Right track !!! KEEP it really Thin, and things should fall into places...

Great video... Remember to thin down the Details you want to cover up... near the seams...

to prevent a HUMP !!

I liked your 3 or 4 test you did.... almost had it !!! great to see the AveS bend in the hot water...

Take care and hope to see more soon !!!

Norm

OUT !

  I did not know that aves could bend when placed in very hot water. Thanks for sharing your tip and technique.

Thank you all for the comments. I thought about bending aves simply because it is an Epoxy, and the resin all of you use to cast parts is also an epoxy. So if one bends in hot water, so should the other. I just don't think that Aves is quite as strong as your normal Epoxy.

Progress has been made but it is moving slowly. One of the tails is almost done with the seams and I might have two of the necks done as well. The legs and body have had a lot of work done on them as well.

I have been watching a couple of the Godzilla movies as of late and a few questions come to mind so I thought I would get an opinion of those that are following this tread.

Here are a couple of photos of Godzilla where he stands at the moment:

When I watch the movie, I don't see any highlighting on old Godzilla. None. He is pretty uniform in color. I have matched that color pretty well with this guy.

Here is the question: Should I add highlighting? I can dry brush in a slightly lighter color pretty quickly so it isn't something that will take a lot of time. It just won't match what I see in the movies anymore.

And here are a couple of good photos of the castle:

May want to highlight him a bit, just to sell the sense of scale, if nothing else.
That castle looks fantastic.

Why not run a few pictures with Gozila and the castle..... As a test! And do the Black & White treatment on them to see if your models are in sync?
!

Just saying! It could prove very useful!

Norm.

Out!

Well the pieces of diorama look really cool. Can't wait to see your test settings.
Cheers
Lukasz

Thanks Quaralane, I think I am going to go ahead and highlight him. The three movies with both Godzilla and King Gidrah don't show this, but most of the vinyl figures do, and I think most people would recognize this more.

Norm, I will take a look at that this weekend, when I have more time. I am on a tight schedule with King Gidrah right now, and I got to get those textures done!

Thank Lukasz!

Way to G!!!! A little highlighting would look good!! Those shots of the castle....WOW!! Nice job!!! ;)

TRM: I will do the highlighting this weekend. No time during the week.

Noname: Thank you!

Norm: I don't know how well they are under control, but I am working on them. Thanks for the link! That looks like one great kit. I have seen it on Evilbay from time to time.

Well here is the next update on King Gidrah:

Texturezilla is one tough beast!
