Really outstanding build! This kit is in my stash, won as a raffle prize at Modelpalooza in Orlando, Florida two years ago. I appreciate your posts. It will help when I finally decide to tackle it.

Thanks. Only problem I ran into was with the decals. The dark grey patterned decals around the exhaust and the large blue ones around the cockpit. None of them sat flat and I ended up butchering them so I ended up painting the blue and used Tamiya dark iron for the grey around the exhaust.

The Pheonix is interesting, but the military grade leaf blower steals the spotlight.

It's definitely going on the plane after all the work I put into it . I did google it and google is telling me the d can carry the phoenix and so says Mr Tamiya so…

The Tomcat was designed around that missile, similar to the A10 being designed around the GAU-8.

Edit to add...looking at Jakko's picture, you can see there's a crooked decal on the real thing. Use that in case anyone says something

That's one of the great things about this hobby—always learning better. That's a gorgeous build!

AK would make so many people happy if they made a dark-red paint marker!

Can get a lot of different colored paint markers at big box hobby stores, some better than others, most enamel based I think based on the odor. A lot of the AK ones seem too "pastel-y" to my eye. Esepcially if trying to use it for certain things next to the main stuff painted in "same" color from say Tamiya (looking at you olive drab).

I get the same feeling...
What I don't know is if that is compared to the 'real' colour or to the paints I'm used to.
My problem is not having a solid grasp of the original paint colours.
