Thanks Mr. Natural, MJ and Fumble...
Norm, she is a pretty small kit, and those rivets are tiny. Alclad will show any imperfections in the surface so the carrier film will show.
In fact I had to strip the trailer. I had a finger print on the trailer before I put down the Alclad. Guess what, it showed through the paint. The bottle warns that you must have a clean surface, and now I know exactly what they mean. I am going to give it a coat of Chrome this weekend.
Dang, I didn't think of that. Jim you are right! Plus I have never done anything like that, so it would have been fun to try. Too late now, I am set on the Alclad....

you can replace the RAISED rivets with 3D raised rivet decals.... cut a strip ! and lay in place...
VOILA !
You get them from Trains specialist or Archer transfers... Archer is more expansive than the Train guys... and the Train guys gives you large sheets...
I have some of the Archer stuff and its... Wicked ! Never had Raised Decals before but they sure can HELP you if you are in a BIND !
OF course ! chroming decals.. might be a problem ?? as you might see the Carrier film ??? not sure about that !
Good luck my man !!! that is quite the project you are working on....
Should look pretty UNIQUE once you are done with it !!
later dude !
