I worked on the conduit a bit and added some little hanger clips. I made some better guitar stands. Here's some pics.

Here is a little test video I made. I only snapped 55 pictures, and I am using a slow frame rate. I'm just fooling around with camera settings and prop setup. I need to use double sided tape to hold the table and items in place, as there were unintentional movements here and there. (watch the hammer haha)

Haha, I have the same problem! Mostly the screwdrivers moving, right off the bench to hide somewhere else in the house!

I am almost finished with the workshop, so you know what that means? Start another project.

I need to be able to animate the characters in real time on the stage. I'm adding a lift to the stage and will use grating to allow servo push-rods to pass through from below. I want to make it look like a cross between a carrier deck and an industrial building with wires and caution stripes and like that. Making progress.

I cut out the panels today using my laser. Now I need to do some painting.

I got the stage in primer today. I had a couple different shades of gray primer so I used the lighter shade on the inserts to see what it would look like. I think I want them a little darker. I also need to cut some stencils for a bunch of lettering details. I intend to add a lot of weathering with rust and stuff like that. I hope this goes a little quicker than the brick wall! haha!

I had a little time to do some painting today. Just starting to layer the rust and stuff. I took a couple test shots to help place some large lettering that I want to add. Still much more to do.

I had a little time to work on the stage today. I added a couple layers of rustyness to the round vents, and just started to add some to the larger areas. I have done some other methods like hairspray and salt, but I think it's best to just keep adding layers for something large like this. At least for me anyway.

During university years in the late 70s, I worked part time in a huge postal sorting station, and those striped lines were everywhere, including around pillars near the sorting frames: smokers could get a smoke break, standing inside the lines, and though I didn't smoke, sometimes I'd just tough it out for a brief respite!

Not sure I like the direction it's going. I wanted to try photoshoping the panels to be more similar to the larger dark gray panels. Now I think I need to sand them and repaint. Probably.

To me it looks like it's some red shapes and some beige shapes on a gray background. It doesn't look natural or real. On the struggle bus here. haha!

There were a couple problems. The first being just the large size, making it look unbalanced in between work sessions. The other being the dark gray paint I thought was primer, wasn't and painting acrylics over it was difficult. The paint would just bead up. I had to lightly sand it all over to prevent this. After that I could start layering over the stage as one piece, to help bring it together. It still needs more work, but it's getting there. Here's a little image after some processing.

I had some time to paint, so I added several more layers of rust and gunk. It is starting to look like an old space ship cargo bay. I'm making side panels for walls on the sides. I get to add pipes and wires to the side panels. anyway, the spills have arrived.

At the risk of offending drummers everywhere, I couldn't help but think of my high school bandmates sophomoric humour: "that you levelled the stage based on which side of the drummer's mouth was drooling!

There definitely is a cargo bay vibe, thinking 'Serenity'; she was a great ship.
