thanks Boatman ! ive really taken to the techniques of weathering.. always want to learn ant try new ways. its like the artistic side of this hobby. tonight mounted the after mast. the 3d printed missile launchers finally arrived today , very nice quality and detail... just have to paint them up with some other pieces now.

painted and mounted the missile launchers fore and aft. installed the optics and coms forward of the wheelhouse. last , i went to install the kit deck supports under the boat deck , but they looked really "toothpicky"... so looking around , i saw the 3d printed parts sprue... perfect size for some beefier supports (i guess this is why we hoard parts and materials). played around with some additional weathering materials i just received. im trying not to go too heavy , but its hard sometimes when you get going. the weathering in person looks much more subdued , dont know what it is about the camera pics.. maybe too much more high def than the eye. so.... i think.. i am ready to do railings and finish off!

thanks kevin. well , i say if i keep it at this level , i can portray the essence of the former soviet navy today. these things are probably moored out three abreast in some grey godforsaken area getting beat up by the winters with skeleton crew on board for basic function. i dont think the russian navy has the funds to maintain these things anymore up to bristol fashion.

did a quick session.. began some railing work. that piece of bow section came pre shaped to follow the sheer line , but i still have to work it into place slowly with some weight while it dries. im using some aftermarket rail for the other areas.. its much more rigid and easier to form. some of the gator glue hasnt completely dried yet so its visible.

I just got done looking at 1/16 armour kits on Andy's Hobbies site for a future project.
I don't know, your pics have me considering another ship build!
I like what I'm seeing. ;)
if you like armour , you must like weathering.... there are some older lindberg kits about on the 'bay. i saw a couple of tuna boats. its fun to grab an inexpensive unusual subject and have fun making it a seadog. would like to see what an armour guy does to a watercraft!

installed secondary battery turrets (3d aftermarket)
To be clear (and clear that I know jack squat about Navy stuff) those deck guns are secondary weapons?

Guessing that means torpedoes are the primary, this is before the era of Tomahawks right?

This looks amazing!
LOVE the details, the paint, the weathering.... all of it!
Looks fantastic!
Good... no strike that, GREAT job!

im no expert on soviet weaponry , but the "secondaries" look like units to handle close in threats maybe similar to our CIWS now. the main missile tubes are i believe anti ship weapons. everything in that period was geared to take out US carrier groups. i think some modern navies still operate this class , upgraded no doubt.
