i had this one in the stash for a while and decided to give it a go. i cant remember the last 1/700 i tried... honestly i dont know how you 1/700 guys do it... but i gave it an attempt because i like the subject - cold war era cruisers and frigates which you dont find many in larger scales. anyhow, this is how it came out. doing the railings and painting them made me want to pull my hair out. i think this scale is better for larger ships like aircraft carriers.. i have a PLAN type 003 Fujian to do in 1/700 and i think its manageable. the kit didnt come with flightdeck markings, so i raided the "ole decal from previous kits bin". i found some white striping which fit the bill - enough

HI Domer yes i dont know how you do it by building these tiny ships in this scale you must have some good peppers as i have but cant build that small as i had a boaty m8 build me the HMS tiger C20 helicopter carrier come battle cruiser an the R/N was goin to send her to the falklands war but she never went as she had auto guns on her an they kept jammin so hence she stayed at home an ive scratch built an sailed her in 1/72 scale 8ft long but she has a very poor turning circle about 60 ft but here a tiny model of her in i think 1/700 scale

boatman... im speechless. all i can say is wow. i would agree that is much easier on the eyes when building! ;) i havent truly "scratch built" yet , but it is something i want to someday become proficient at before i kick off. did you take the measurements off the 1/700 or build off plans? i would love to see some of the build pics. what construction method did you use for her? what made you choose 1/72? so many questions...

HI Domer94 an yes this ship is a complete scratch build an fully r/.c took me about 4 yrs to build her an she comes in half so i can tranport her to an from the pond in my car an yes i bought the plans very exspensive as the plans serveice only did it in 1/96 scale so i told them i wanted the plans blew up to 1/72 scale so she matches in scale with my HMS NORFOLK TYPE 23 F230 FRIGATE an apart from the hull was also scrachbuilt an she sails better than tiger but TBHO she is a lighter ship to carry in two parts in her carry cradles i'll see if i can down lode some pics of the build off my other mayhem forum but just a few an the hull was sort of plank on frame an there is loads of pics i'll see if i can start a small thread on tiger ok

with that length to beam ratio she looks to have been a real roller coaster in a seaway! i must say having the sea kings in that scale is a game changer. we are so used to looking at 1/350 etc aircraft. BTW , do you happen to be former R/N ? i get that feeling
