I have five from this series, so I thought I'd start a thread for them. I'm still looking for a good deal on the Ark Royal and the USS Enterprise. I built the Tarawa as a kid and would like to do that one again, but it's low on the wants. I have the Arizona and the Massachusetts already under construction, so I'll start with those. I figured these could all be included under one thread. Not sure that I'll build all of them though.

Here's my stash:

Here's what would be in the USS Arizona box (I used the Pennsylvania contents, same kit):

And this is where I left off a few years ago:

I was intimidated by trying to paint the deck, so I left it at that.

I got it out again last weekend and went at it:

That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Finished with the USS Arizona. At only 10" this thing is small. I decided that because of the small size, weathering will be at a minimum. I tried using some watercolor pencils on the deck to add some variations, but I don't really like how it came out. I tried to build her in the configuration and paint her in the colors she would have been at Pearl Harbor, although I've seen a lot of variations on that scheme.

Now, on to the USS Massachusetts.

Looks good. Trying to keep weathering to scale is tricky.

I had a relative on the Arizona on 12/7/41. He survived, won some medals for saving sailors from the water throughout the day, threw the medals into the harbor and talked very little about it.

Edit: Your model looks great and that will be an awesome collection to display them together!

Getting base colors done. I'm using approximate colors not exact for the Measure 22 scheme.
Primer, masked the waterline stripe, red bottom, mask for Navy Blue hull side, mask for Haze Gray, mask for Blue decks.

Masking pulled up some paint ugh! On to touchup and detail paint now.
