NYLON GAG MK 1 - FINISHED

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Mmmm. Primer. My favorite color. LOL.

Looking really good. Great work on this. I'm looking forward to seeing it painted.

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Really enjoying this thread, Gags. Great stuff, she's coming along beautifully.

Sounds like you're in need of advice on the lighting. I've got no experience lighting a model of this size. I would say that the benefit is, you've got lots of room to work with. You could fit some fixtures for the LEDs to fit into. Use epoxy to secure them (putty or resin will do). Sorry that's about all I can add.

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Evenin All,
Thanks for the comments guys.

Did a lot this weekend

Finished the front winglets.

Picture%2520546.jpg

Installed the front outside upper wings. 1mm syrene.

Picture%2520550.jpg

Picture%2520555.jpg

I taped on the front inside upper wings, also i built a small hatch on the middle section.I still have to cut out the panel for the small greeblie tub which will go at the front of the hatch.

Picture%2520563.jpg

This was in the back yard on Friday night. The body is the sze of a large pistachio nut. I think it's a Wolf Spider. It builds a new web every evening when it gets dark.

Picture%2520568.jpg

Gave the intakes a black pastel wash, then hit them with a small amount of blue.

Picture%2520576.jpg

Went around the top of each intake with raw black pastel then spread it downwards with a wet Q tip then dry brushed with crome silver.

Painted the greeblie tubs metalic grey and will give them a flat base coat on wednesday night, then start weathering on thursday.

Thanks for looking comments welcome as always .

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Awesome work, buddy! Those intakes look really sharp. Paint is looking great!

I think it's a wolf spider too, they come in many forms so it's always hard to tell. It's definately a female spider judging from it's large abdomen.

I love pictures of them, don't like them so much when they're in my living rooom!

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Thank Crunchie it's Friday,

Eve-nin all,

Been bizzy this week again, so here we go... ;D

After dry fitting the side intakes i noticed i could see the back of the tub thru the middle, so i taped some silver foil on with my super industrial double sided tape. It just adds another level of interest i think.

Picture%2520604.jpg

Picture%2520606.jpg

Started to make the assembly for the side intake vanes. Lots of cutting, fileing & my first expirience with panel line scribing, used my Dads old Tamiya scriber, it works well.

Picture%2520609.jpg

Picture%2520614.jpg

Picture%2520615.jpg

Picture%2520621.jpg

Tonight i started to glue the side alignment pieces, i used a scrap piece of round tube to align them.

Picture%2520629.jpg

Picture%2520631.jpg

Then gave everything a coat of primer and left it to dry till tomozza.

Picture%2520634.jpg

Picture%2520636.jpg

I then weathered the 2 greeblie tubs i had AB'd metallic grey on Monday.

Picture%2520637.jpg

Then Hi-lighted some of the individual greebs with tamiya Gold, Black, Copper, Crome Silver & Gun metal.

Picture%2520640.jpg

Black pastel wash. Brown pastel wash

Picture%2520644.jpg

Crome silver Dry brush.

Picture%2520659.jpg

Picture%2520667.jpg

Picture%2520668.jpg

Thats all folks, thanks for the comments guys, its much appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Gorgeous work!

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Evenin all,
Thanks for the kind words fellas, This piece is definately going to be 'Detail Heavy' thats for sure.

But anyhoo just Fiddly vent construction and some masking & paint this weekend.

Opened a hatch & made it a vent in the small top small cover.

Picture%2520674.jpg

Picture%2520682.jpg

Dry assembled the painted side vents just to see.

Picture%2520685.jpg

Picture%2520688.jpg

Constructed a cover for the top detail tub, turned that into a vented cover also. There must be some heat created under there?.

Picture%2520691.jpg

Picture%2520694.jpg

Picture%2520699.jpg

Picture%2520702.jpg

Picture%2520706.jpg

Mmmmmmmmmmm Primer.

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Thanks for the kind words guys, it is much appreciated.

Well a bit of assembly & fitting tonight.

I AB'd the red last night after masking the blade part of the vane.

Picture%2520714.jpg

Picture%2520715.jpg

Removed the masking tonight and assembled the components.

Picture%2520718.jpg

Picture%2520719.jpg

Glued it all up, making sure the vanes were straight.

Picture%2520720.jpg

Put it all together. I removed the top brace which was only there for a guide.

Picture%2520731.jpg

Then i fitted a new top brace and trimmed the back of the hydrogen nozzle 'tub' until everything fit snug.

Picture%2520736.jpg

Picture%2520734.jpg

Thats all for tonight,
next i'm going to focus on the front part of the side intakes and the front winglets, i'll fill all the gaps with some green squadron putty, sand until smooooooothness is achieved. Bingo.!! ;D

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

How hot would that be if you could make those open and close
with RC MAN! Even if you could put those small computer fans in there
and attach ribbons like they do when they test stuff......so you could see them
stream out.......anyway it"s real cool thanks for the update! Don't listen to me
or you will never finish it! LOL LOL LOL
