Into Darkness Enterprise NCC-1701

Okay, haven't been getting a lot done on this, but I have some progress on her to share this time.

Ran the fiber optic strands for the blinking running lights.
These were glued in with PVA glue (Elmer's white glue)

Bundled the running light fibers into a cut drinking straw end.
Then, I ran the fibers for the rest of the saucer marker lights.

Bundled those fibers into a cut drinking straw, and soldered up the LEDs for the blinking and steady circuits.
Connections were all secured/protected with black electrical tape

Glued the saucer halves together and clamped things into place.
Seams look nice and tight at this point.

It's how I've gotten the best results lately.
Last time I used CA on them, the kicker ate the fibers

Hey Q have you ever tried using hot glue
for the fibers.....I don't do much fiber work
but was wondering how it would work? Figure
it would cut down on the drying time ....but
not sure about strength? Looking good glad
to see you got her all tucked in and in bed!!! LOL

It's a good suggestion. Just don't have a need for a hot glue gun for anything else at the moment

Got a little more work on the Enterprise.
Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

Modded the secondary hull halves and deflector mount for the photoetch, then glued the etch into place

Glued the halves of the secondary hull together, as well as the deflector mount.
I deliberately left the back half unglued to make working with things easier for a bit

Glued the secondary hull to the saucer after pulling the wiring into the neck.
Also modded the bottom of the secondary hull to allow for wiring to pass into the base of the kit

As an experiment, I went ahead and assembled the photoetch shuttlebay. Did this mostly to see how it would look while I debated putting it into place.

Thanks guys.

John, she's not as close as she may appear. Got a lot of work in that secondary hull to do

Afraid she's on the back burner at the moment, Jamaican.
Needed to clear my head for a bit on her

:) An excellent model, Quaralane...

... with the lighting that you´re adding, this will be "Top", mate ... :)

... then when finished, some pics against a stellar background... ;)

Nice, nice, Mr Q. !

Cheers
Jelly

Very small update on this one, and a serious decision at the moment.

Revell 1-500 Enterprise Part Eleven-Hiatus

Basically, I'm shelving this one until I get feeling good about working on her again.
She's been fighting me hard, and I'm not going to sacrifice her in the name of getting her "finished"

That was a hard decision to make and one that is right if you have lost your feeling on the kit. I have been put off by the number of decals on a RG gundam and it is just sitting on the shelf right now...

Sometimes it's best to take a breather when a kit is really tasking you. Don't want to end up all nutso like Kahn!
