D-Day collective build?

the sand looks to smooth compared to the water I think. How about a small crater or 2? A sand fountain might tie it together with the water, but I don't know how difficult that would be. Even a crater on the beach might look good tying it all together
Thought I would go with your advice on a blast hole on the beach so this is just the start of it.

Also got the shading on half the troops done so moving along nicely. The rest of the infantry are half assembled. Pantherman

Quite a bit of progress, though there is a massive amount of cleanup to do. I expect to be about halfway done. I decided to brushpaint which will be worse result, but my airbrush needs too much workIMG20240430223022.jpgIMG20240430223032.jpg.IMG20240430223012.jpg

The invasion stripes should go all the way around the plane, top and bottom. This is so friendly aircraft can recognize another friendly regardless of angle. Example in pic.

BTW the spitfire looks great. Nice job

My reference picture has only bottom stripes. I painted them on the top before I took a better look at the picture.

Now I looked up more, and that picture must be at least one month after D-day, when the top stripes were painted over. I think you can even see the paint having dripped a bit on the lower stripes in the reference.

Now I have to decide whether to be closer to the reference or D-day (it will probably be the latter).
