Contest Q&A

I looked for an answer to this elsewhere but was unsuccessful. Are there groupings within each group of builds? For example a Novice and an Expert with in the various categories? I am pretty certain the quality of my build will be at a different level than that of Ken or Aaron.

I will still not be discouraged from submitting if I am judged against those that are a bit higher on the skill ladder, but thought I would ask anyway.

We haven't grown to the point of warranting sub divisions however this year we have implemented the Previous Winners category.

Scott does the Newspaper date still applies for the validity of the unstarted kit?

Revelle does something like that with their contest but they limit you to a list of their kits to work with. Not as open and fun as this. My take on the contest is that it's a fun motivator for a build Iv'e had in the back of my mind since around 1966. Talk about procrastination! I do appreciate the Previous Winners category, though. At least I won't get spanked too bad by all these young whippersnappers...

Scott: With the site being based in Canada and the contestants global, do you want to base the start date on March 1 SMA time to keep those Europeans at bay?

I'm not too strict to start time. March 1st...12:00 local is good for me. It all evens out in the end.

ok i have another one.

My build will have a Trailer and i want something for the rear. does that have to be put in its own topic or can i put it in the one build log if i know what i am putting on the back by the time i enter if its a kit.

and no im not building the Hett if anyone is wondering, ;D

A truck pulling a trailer, with a car on it would be considered one.

Again, no ground work, just the model. But yeah we can do that. It would be judged as one unit.

ENTERING THE CONTEST
There will be a form available as of March 1st where you can upload your 'unstarted kit with date in the photo' photo and a paypal button for paying the entry fee.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO START ON MARCH 1st.

You could enter April 21st or May whatever - there isn't a 'deadline' to enter other than the obvious end of the contest May 31st. (actually you could enter May 31st, but not June 1st.)

If you decide to enter another kit down the road, as long as it isn't previous started (with the exception of the All-Open) that is fine.

will you be waiting till the First your time Scott this year ?

I always do! Not planning to start until I finish the Big Rig Rat...so another couple of weeks.

Then again, I might assemble the Rancor one evening next week, fill and primer. But she won't be on the bench until that truck is done.
