Im absolutely fascinated with this thread. Brilliant work! I look at it and think, " I could do that" then remember i haven't got nearly enough patience or attention span to keep at it.
I lose interest quickly, ( ADHD is great! 😆) so would just end up with a half finished boat.
Please keep posting, it's brilliant.

MORE PICS GUYS
an here i had a rest from the ship itself as thinking ahead i thought well id better see if i can get the eleletric motors all wired up an working an here a couple of shots of them wired up with their ESC units BUT unknown to me at the time of wireing these units togeather that they just wernt up to the job of movieing such a big model an the wheight an meaning the30 AMP ESC AN THE MOTORS so a couple of pics of them but after one sail at the pond it was scrap them an take them out for some heavier 40 amp ESC an some bigger motors but we all learn our lessons the hard way oh dear

SO after that cock up i thought id leave the motors an eletrics till ii got more info on their replacements which were more powerfull so i thought well id strip all the front bridge S/S down an funnell area an get them ready to paint up an frankly i was a bit amazed at how many there was

WELL that was done so i thought right ive got several things that i want working seperatly so here in this pic ive made up an tested 2 red cams that work from two knobs that turn on my r/c these cams will hit an turn from servos fitted underneth them knock on switches 5 knock on swiches on each cam so 10 in total to work lights an radars an the seaking chopper an yes things all worked ok but there will be more pics of them working in the futcher pics an these knock on swiches still are not wire up propebrly as they are just under test so they will all have to come off an be wired up propberly then refitted back on the board

an here both parts of the hull have been sprayded with 10 coats of matt light grey an also prop shafts fitted an the 2 holes in the bow section are for a bow thruster fitted in as when this is on the water its will catch the wind so the bowthruster makes the ship more easy to controllView attachment 177822
Did you apply an epoxy or fiberglass to this hull?

That's really nice to hear- good for the two of you!

Hey, unless I missed it, with such large craft do you need to install bilge pumps?
WELL B/B funny you should mention that an yes i thought about that havin a pump in as she did leak a little where water got forced up the prop shafts as the water pressure must have been terffic up the shaft had all 4 shafts been really well greased inside but the pressure from the props in astern pushed water up them only a little but it built up over time if i dint clean it out an jen was the bilge pump lol as when i lifted of the top deck she would get a big syinge an a bit of tube on it an suck out any water that had gotten in the hull hows that ?

So are you going to modify it for bilge pumps? I'd imagine you could end up in a pickle if too much water got in and shorted the electrical! Very impressive build and thank you for sharing! I've been wanting to build myself a wooden kayak for years and this makes me want to get off my butt and do it!

WELL Ron2 no need to fit one really as if you look in the hull the hull frames are half an inch high an any water that does come up the prop shafrts will get trapped in them sectins an the eletric componts such as motors an ESC 's are all fitted about an inch or so off the bottom of the hull so unless the hull gets a crack in it an lets in a fair amount of water there is no worryies an i only sailed her about a half an hour each time as usally there are so many people wanting to see in side her at the eletrics an wanting to ask questions about the ship i was lucky if i got to sail her twice in a day up at the pond an it was nice to see so many people taking an instrest in the model an the time went so quick so yes lets see you have a go id be your no 1 fan lol

Sounds like you planned this all out- why did I doubt? It's very cool that people are interested in the ship you built- it definitely deserves it!

MANY THANKS Ron2 as i built my big uss nimitz the same way so i had fore knowalge of this about how the water wont reach the eletrics if raised up so i knew there wont be any probs on that account an thank you sir for the nice comments an yes the general public seem to love the ship like they did my NIMITZ an if its a really sunny nice day then some days back then i dint even have a chance to sail as the public were very demanding an i wont be rude by iginoreing them but on the whole jen an i enjoyed our days an hope for more when we get back to the pond in 26

The only mask that would protect from vapour or fumes is one with an "A" filter. They have carbon in them. Most masks are only for dust or liquid particles.
