BOATMANS HMS TIGER C20 scratch build for R/C

an here is a shot of the radar shaft fitted with its sqaure brass box section fot the main mast to drop onto so it wont slip when turnig the big search radar

an i treid to fit in the hangar just 3 seaking let alone 4 an it was a tight sqezze but mind you in the real hangar bay there was not this wall fitted as i have done so you cant see the radar motor

an in this pic it show the big main mast built an fitted down onto the hangar bay an radar shaft an this unit can be removed as it only screwed on an there is a tiny openinh hatch so i ca get to the r-motor without having to remove the main mast

WELL P/M when you come over you can see the real ship an if you want i can put it all togeather so you can see her in all her glory but it takes a few minutes as she is really big an really big S/S that goes on her but i will have to move the hornet out of the way as tiger is nr 8 ft long so a big model an i will post more pics tomorrow of the tiger build an my boaty freind paul is buildiding her as a gun cruiser in 1/96 scale an not the chopper carrier like id did

HMS C20 TIGER BUILD PICS RESTSTARED
an here both parts of the hull now jioned togeather for the first time an the shape of the ship can now be seen

an ive now started to build the front foremast out of brass angle an i intend to have both radars turning so this mast will be a fully working model in its self

an inside the mast is the main drive shaft to work the radars from a motor fitted in the main bridge s/s

an inside the mast can be seen a yellow crown gear fitted to the drive by allen screw an this one will work the smaller nav radar

here can be seen in close up the nav radar's crown gear with its allen screw as the beuaty of this is its can be slided up an down till in the correct postion

Nice! Reminds me of countless hours building with my Meccano set, and poking my hands with that little screwdriver!

an here can be seen the tiny gears to be ffited on the top of the mast for small serfuse search radar but it was just a case of flitting through them till i found the right gears an for the radars speed so what fun i had doin this an plus these gears also will work the small navigaion radar that will work off that yellow crown gear half way up the mast when i work it all out an it did

an here the main gears an the gear box all now ready to be fitted togeather as had severall tries at this till i got the right speed an the radar turning clockwize as when i first fitted it all togeather the radar was goin anti clockwize which is wrong

here the fore mast radars mounts all fitted in postion just now a matter of getting things working

an the bits of balsa wood are to represent the radar so i can see if they turn at the correct speed

an more pics tomorrow an with this mast it had to have all the wires goin up it for nav lights an runnin lights an red anti collion lights an that took some doin but you all will see them lights all goin tomorrow as i think im over the pic level allowance
