never liked Revell .
seems like most of the Revell kits being built here have some issue or another beyond the pedestrian

I still want their A400M , but just for the engines and props .
I was going to grab it years back but that thing about doubled in price .. I didn't feel like dropping the 70 - 80 bucks or whatever it was for future scratch-building adventures

That is one BIG kit! It looks like you are beating all the challenges they gave you. The Pontos additions really enhance the appearance! (I'm not too familiar with modeling large plastic ships, and was not familiar with Pontos, myself)

HI GCB well did you get an answer from revele an phontos ? as yes i dont an wont buy revele kits its amazesing to me they havint gone down as so many moddlers dont like their kits as i have only one revele kit of a 1/32 hawk aircraft an to my amazement it looks fairly decent kit but i dint buy it as i was given to me by a gent on another forum im on an well i hope you get to enjoy this build sir

This Revell kit is really pissing me off!
Each single detail is to be corrected.
If it was not the price I paid for the Pontos kit, the full lot would be in the bin... Will probably end up there anyhow.
Another example: the funnel (thanks Chris) is already full of putty to try to hide the misalignments.

and when adding the "balcony" (someone will let me know the right word), it will require more putty and not sure will be able to keep it horizontal.
Not talking about the small holes inside!

I assume it was designed as an entertainment toy for a 10 year's old kid.

WELL Sir it looks ok to me as with any kit like my hornet i have fit probs as i have on my hornet an its up to you to cut or file to make it fit like i have as some parts on my hornet were terrible fit an had to have as much as 1/8th of an inch cut off before they fitted so it all called modelin wheather we like it or not an i was tempted to dump my hornet in the bin but no cant do that so im stickin at it till i build this model an yes i aggree i dont like revell kits but if you stick at it im sure you will have a model to be proud of so please do

GCB TRY an stick at it as i said in my post above thats modellin but if its that bad then just put it on the back burner for a while an come back to it when you have calmed down like i have sir as even though its proberly a crap kit it can be made into something good just needs some patience thats all

YES have a cuppa of what you like an then have a think ahead on the model of what fits an if not then file it till fits like i do an if any bits do fit then fit them an your mojo will reginite it self like it has on me

AS yes when i was scratchbuilding my big r/c warships i got a bit spoiled as when i built the parts i knew they would fit so i was a happy bunny BUT on a plastic model they have been designed by some person who proberly isnt even instrested wheather the parts will fit to them its just a job so hence its up to you sir to make the parts fit like you are already doin an very well i might add

Sorry to see that the kit is far from meeting an acceptable level of fit and quality.

On a separate note, talking about terminology, my own rant (apologies):
I understand that manufacturers try to keep their costs down, especially for multilingual markets, but wouldn't it be grand if the instructions labelled parts with their actual names!
I for one would be so much happier and engaged knowing that I was assembling a capstan, a steering linkage or a recoil cylinder instead of part S3, 25 or C12, a 'thingamabobber', a 'what's it' and a 'doodad'.

Got a reply from Revell and they are sending the 1/2 hulls and damaged part (F50). Poor quality kit but great service!
And no reply from Pontos..

And chimney funnel (thanks Chris) with putty at an acceptable level. Next: start installing all PE parts on it (you can see some on the background)
