Hi guys, my first post on SMA!

Right from the get go I decided I didn't want to do yet another grey AT-ST, so I've decided on a desert scheme for a Recon unit on Tatooine operating in amongst the wadis of the Judland Wastes fighting a Tusken Raider insurrection. My scheme will be roughly based on this one...........

As many of you have already found out this kit goes together like a dream. This is my first ever Bandai kit and I was shocked at just how good it is! Best engineered kit I've ever built!

I decided to paint the cockpit in something a little different..........

Then it was on to the mid section..............

Base colours on, and chipping started................

Then some washes...........

........... and hoses, oil paint weathering and some pigments............

Then on to the legs.............

Now it's chipping time! Have to go slow here and take my time as the lower legs would have taken the heaviest beating due to scraping against rocks, falling rocks, shrapnel, wind, sand etc. So a little bit of logical thought has to go into this. First, the light chipping down to the base colour.............

That's it so far. Hope you like it. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about my build!

Cheers

Richard

Why not enter it in the Big Spring Contest? There are a few AT-STs already entered but there is also a sub-contest for BEST AT-ST!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm new here so aren't familiar with what's going on. I arrived here following a link via one of Grendels YouTube videos, but I'll have a look at both of those things you mentioned. Cheers!

That's a very cool and unique color scheme you have on this kit. I really like the chipped and worn detail you have applied. Very nice job on this so far.

Thanks for your thoughts guys!

Slowly, slowly..................

In the mean time I was thinking about stowage. Any vehicle wether real or imagined will have a crew living in/on it during time of conflict. So, they will need rations, a toilet of some sort, packs for personal effects and tarps etc for when it rains or is very hot. So after having a quick look around at what is available in 48th scale I decided on this set................

Not everything in the set is usable in this case, but a lot of it is.

I'm going to make some stowage bins for the back of the head to hold the water cans, ammo boxes and bed rolls, plus some more bed roll/tarps on top. Something like this?

Now, back to the chipping, and thinking about weapons fits...............................

STOWAGE!!! YES!!! I've been trying to find a good set to add to my build...that one looks perfect. Where'd you get it?

I got it here:

but unfortunately its sold out already. Very good set, I highly recommend it for the AT-ST.

Nice. I actually found the Verlinden version here:

Same seller. I'm thinking about getting the Black Dog Humvee upgrade, too...
