Adampolo13's BSC Thread - Finished

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks for the comments guys! Thanks for following along! Here's my daily update. Again, doesn't look like a lot but to me it's progress. ;D

I decided to start adding some of the smaller little pieces to the bird, things that couldn't easily break off. So I attached these thingies to the bottom. You will see white Vallejo filler in the little gaps. That stuff is great, water soluble and doesn't shrink much, great for really small areas like this.

Next up I decided to fill an EPM on the bottom on the landing gear. Nobody will ever see it but I couldn't let it be. OCD I guess... The reason it's clear is because I used CA to fill it.

Then came just a little bit of seam work on the tail. I've been going very slow, re-scribing rivets and masking off surface detail as I go along. I use black primer to check my progress.

After that I had the brilliant idea to add some more pieces to the underside, specifically a little antenna. I thought the gear was long enough to protect it. I was wrong. So... I decided to glue up the wheels... Now the antenna is safe.

After that it was time to clean up the workspace a bit.

And that's all she wrote for tonight. Thanks again!

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Man...what a beast. Great work so far; this is gonna be one sweet modul.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks guys, she's a beast for sure. I really feel like I accomplished something tonight. Tail fins built up, rear rotor assembled.

Then the big one got built up!

Then a quick dry fit. I think there is too much sag here, this was before the application of tamiya extra thin so there was a lot of play in how far the blades dropped down. But I'm impressed with how big this thing is.

I'm sure there will be more tomorrow. Thanks for stopping in.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Good god that is a big spread. They're sagging at the joints? Will you do the natural resting sag?

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Looking great Adam! Love that paint rack!

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks guys! It's a fun project for sure.

In terms of the sag, yes there will be sag. The kit is designed to have the blades droop a bit and if the builder is careful they can choose how much they want. The sag I was getting last night was too much but I was able to set it overnight and it looks great now!

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Hi Todd, I haven't figured out how to get the video to post here from FB. I may have to load to YouTube and then link it here.

Thing is HUGE.
Looks to be coming along very nicely, though

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks for the kind words guys! It's a fun project for sure! I was able to get a lot more done last night.

I got the last of the seams filled and smoothed out. :). I was also able to start getting some of the smaller finer details like the little ladders and antennas attached.

I then started working on the cockpit doors. I was very happy to find out the doors fit very snug so I can paint them all together and the weathering will be uniform.

After that I started working on the glass work. Some good masking on the inside proved to work well.

Dry fit with open door. Note - the paint on the window was touched up.

Then I finished masking everything else..

That's all she wrote for now...

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Just a quick fix, noticed my ladder thing wasn't oriented the right way. All fixed now.
