Adampolo13's BSC Thread - Finished

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks guys! I stayed up way too late last night looking at reference pics of those engines. I'm going to add some more wiring for sure. Stay tuned later tonight for more. :D

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Adam, you're flying through this. I got to pick up the speed, my modelling bicycle still has the training wheels on compared to everybody else around this place...

The progress on the Hind looks good;
Hammering out a handsome horribly huge hind... ;D

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Alrighty dooder mcdudes, I gotz another update fer yalls.

After messing with the engines last night and realizing that with the bay doors open those notches and gaps would just look like crap. So I did some test fitting tonight and realized engines can go in later. This was most excellent news.

I started with getting the left hand side using mr dissolved putty.

When that wasn't drying fast enough I just switched to super glue and baking soda and started on the cargo bay doors. Since I'm going to have the doors open I really didn't want this ugly step/gap there.

After a bit of sanding and blending of the paint I got this...

Once I had the left hand done engine bay and cargo I attached the two halves and started on the right hand side.

Looks much better this way I think.

I did start to glue the two halve together in just a few spots. My plan is to clamp and band a small section each day over the next few days. Truly the fit is pretty amazing but I want to go slow just to try and minimize any filler later.

While the pant was drying I decided to check the fit of the doors just to see what kind of issues to expect when I go to paint this thing.

Welp, none really.

I did take off a little too much on the right side when I was standing... Nothing some blue take won't keep plugged up when I paint it.

I'm not worried about that because the doors will be open and you'll never know. Besides it looks better smoothed out.

That's about all she wrote for now. Picture updates probably won't be as massive over the next few days as I'll be slowly working on the center seam. At the same time I'll also be working on the engines and starting the wings and things.

Thanks for following along.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Nice work Adam, that gap....or lack of looks great.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks John! In all honesty, I think this is one of the most fun model builds I've done in a long time.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Are you guys getting sick of my updates yet? LOL

Here's some more progress for you.

I started the night by carefully placing a few rubber bands on the back section and gluing it up using Tamiya extra thin. You may be wondering what the toothpicks are for... Keeps the rubber band tight but off the plastic.

I also cleaned up the front seam behind the engine and sprayed some black on it. I checked my references and yes there's a panel line there. :). This build just got a lot easier!

I then turned to engine work. While I started adding some more wiring with lead wire I also worked on the exhaust. Here you will see locating tabs...

Here you will not.

And a quick little profile shot.

The great news is I can install the final piece of the exhaust at the end of the build which is going to make painting a lot easier.

Thanks again for stopping in.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Love the updates. can't get enough. Are you going to leave that engine access clear?

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks guys for the kind words! It's not even 9 am here and I'm dying to get out of work and get back to the bench.

Nicholas, I will be painting those clear engine bay doors. Not to worry. ;)

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Just catching up on this one here buddy! Nice work so far!! Some excellent detail painting...even on your nails!! ;D

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Alrighty folks, here's an update for you. Would have done it last night but I left the bench well after midnight.

Work continued on the engines, finished wiring them up. Not 100% competely accurate but close enough for a scale model.

I then painted and weathered up the right side engine and got it installed.

After all that, I know it doesn't look like much but the wiring took a while, I did some dry fitting. Yup, I also loosely tacted the wings together.
