Adampolo13's BSC Thread - Finished

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Wow!
This looks great - I'm glad you were able to squeeze some time into the build :)
I look forward how this baby progresses.
Cheers

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks guys. There's not too much too the crew compartment so I'm hoping I'll get more progress tonight.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Man there is some great competition going on this year, I hope I can keep up. For your inspection is my most recent progress. Tonight I managed to get the crew compartment painted and very and I mean very lightly weathered. Dry brushing and a few select washes. I know the special theme is dirty but I've got an issue with going overboard on weathering so I'm keeping myself so very restrained.

Here's an overall shot to give you an idea of how this is going together.

And here are a few dry fit shots.

Tomorrow night I'll get the windows in on the left had side and then start on the engines. I'm contemplating whether to do a little scratch building and adding some extra piping but that'll be decided later.

Thanks again for following along.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Looks great Adam, and less is more with weathering dude.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks John. This really has become a very fun project for me. Hope you don't fall to far behind. LOL

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Looks good Adam. I like that you're building the troop compartment, that's a big part of what makes a Hind different from other gunships.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Thanks Mac! It's a fun ride for sure. I had a chance to speak with a guy who used to ride in these things a lot. Special Forces missions. One of the things he pointed out was most of the time these interior of the hind was kept pretty neat and clean, it was the outside that got beat up. I'm sure that wasn't the case 100% of the time but that's how I'm trying to build her.

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Looking really good Adam! it looks you're taking care at each stage...slow and steady wins the race!

Re: Adampolo13's BSC Thread

Hey guys, thanks again for following along. More progress tonight! I was able to get the windows in the left hand side and make a start on the engines.

After I got the engines started I wanted to do a mock up to see what areas need more work.

Engine doors come molded clear, why I don't know. They will fit pretty snug when I paint the whole thing.

Please forgive the masking tape. The plan is to have at least one side open.

The challenge I will face is closing up that gap and filling sanding and blending this all together.

I will get the engines finished and bays started and then I can close these two halves up!
